(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
Feature request:
Add right-click on image > image properties just like Opera had to get detailed information on a picture (like aperture, camera make, exposure, iso, focal length, etc - when available).
-
- Shortcuts can be edited to whatever you like. I use / for find in page. Tools, Settings, keyboard
- Also selectable in Tools, Settings, Tabs.
-
@VikMorroHun:
- I'd say enlarging/reducing of a web page/font size should be in Vivaldi. It's a basic feature in other browsers.
Paste this into your address field: vivaldi://chrome/settings/fonts

Optional dark colors for vivaldi:// urls and the Vivaldi websites? I like having dark themes for everything, which I use Stylish to install, but I was curious if dark themes for the Vivaldi urls could be implemented as an option.
I know dark theme is an option for the browser itself, I just mean the vivalid:// urls, like the addons list, flags list, etc. And maybe even the Vivalid community and forum websites themselves? I don't know, I'd just like the option.
-
Having the suburl part of the main url grayed out like other browsers.
Adding more thumbnail photos for Speed Dial like I was able to do with ChrOpera.
Removing this bug with the horizontal/vertical scrollbar flashing up on a new tab.
When I pin Vivaldi to my taskbar on Windows, it pins a large icon. When I click on it, a small icon shows up beside it as the window. This has been going on with snapshots for a month and 1/2 now. If I try pinning the small icon it doesn't work.
Those are some small visual suggestions I have for now. Will probably have some more later on.

@VikMorroHun:
I did it. I can change the font type but not the size. I like to use Ctrl and + or - keys.
Another thing: the bookmarks in Firefox or Chrome has a little icon at the beginning. Not in Vivaldi. This would help to distinguish them from another. You should be able to change font sizes in the browser with this extension. Otherwise, you should be able to zoom in/out with ctrl +/- and with ctrl + shift + scroll

Add a "show password" button in Password Manager menu, sometimes i can' login automatically and I need remember my password, then if I could look at it, find it, would make it easier.
And a supports for Password Manager recognizes when a site there are more than two logins and shows it to the user for he selects among the logins he will use. -
On bookmark icon menu, makes a difference between main folders and subfolders.

Speed Dial: presently it doesn't work but even when it does I don't feel like page thumbnails are the way to go.
OSX used to have a feature where you could turn a section of any webpage into a widget: http://osxdaily.com/2013/08/19/make-dashboard-widget-web-page-mac-os-x/
This would be better for speed dial images. If you want just the website logo then when you create a new dial you drag a rectangle around the logo. If instead you want your dial image to be the odds on your bookies' webpage then you drag the rectangle around the part of the webpage that has the odds. For newspapers select the main headline, and so on. Vivaldi can then check the website on a sliding scale (like how gmail checks pop3 accounts) to see how often the content gets updated, whether that be everytime a new tab is opened, or less than once a day.
-
I really want the inspector not to be in a separate window. I frequently forget that I have one open and it covers up precious screen space.
-
This would be better for speed dial images. If you want just [a detail] then when you create a new dial you drag a rectangle around [it]
Thumbnails are fine
(and they do work since the last update or so, so you may want to get one of the latest versions, or otherwise see why it does not work for you)But your suggestion looks extra cool. Probably not high priority, but a definite must I say.

I hope Vivaldi devs read this topic.
I just tried Vivaldi browser on Linux and i really miss following things:
[ol]- I've enabled tabs at the bottom. The problem is that they're not tied to the bottom (so I can't just move mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen and click on tab).
- [Favorite sites shown by the click on the address bar (instead of separate favorites bar). For example you can check Apple's Safari,[li]
- For some reason, when I click on buttons of the message editor (at this forum), I can't undo effect of the button by pressing Ctrl-Z. May be it's a forum's bug, not the browser.
- I can't change encoding of the page
- I can't edit address of the bookmarks on the favorites bar. Also I can't add new favorites just by drag'n'drop to the bar or by right-clicking the bar.
- Favorites bar for some reason not showing favicons of bookmarks
- It would be better if Vivaldi will have an option to keep all tabs colored, not just the current.
- I think also would be better if the browser will have an option to switch between native and Vivaldi's toolbar (File, Edit, View and so on) like it now have for the window controls
[/ol]
Thank you. Atm I will go back to the Yandex browser. Nevertheless it looks not so good but now it's more useful.

Vivaldi meet all my needs right now except for three features.
#1: The ability to use Unity Web Plugin. It is required for some of the games I play. Currently it is working on the Mac (10.10.5) version of Vivaldi, but not Windows (7).
#2: The ability to open the pages saved on your speed dial with a keyboard shortcut like in Opera 12. With commands such as CTRL+1, CTRL+2, etc.
#3: Being able to edit the speed dial thumbnails (the square previews of the pages on the speed dial page) without having to go to /users/username/AppData/Local/Vivaldi/User Data/Default and opening the Bookmarks folder and editing file. Which I might add does not work on Mac, only Windows.Perhaps the first one is just a bug, could be.
There is also one more feature that would be nice. Being able to open every page in a bookmarks folder at the same time. -

It isn't a bug. It's because of Google deprecating NPAPI (which Unity uses) and it's affecting Vivaldi because of it being based off Chromium. You'll probably have to play them offline or install Firefox.

1. Vivaldi settings > Tabs > Check "Remove Tab Spacing in Maximized Windows." Also toggle the status bar if you haven't already.
5. Paste this into your address bar: "vivaldi://settings/fonts" Scroll down to "Encoding."
6. Use the bookmarks manager in the sidebar or on the new tab page for now.
7. Go to Vivaldi settings > Appearance > Bookmark Bar Display > Make sure "Text and Icon" is checked.

I'm hoping since no-one has said no to the amazing start bar, that it's still a possibility. Not likely for the beta, but maybe in the future? I have my fingers crossed! :silly:
@noshankus:I'm still hoping for the amazing start bar to make an appearance! Please oh please oh pretty please!!! :woohoo:

Then how come it works on the Mac version of Vivaldi? Shouldn't that affect both platforms?
-
Some thing that I'm waiting:
- Shortcuts for extension's actions
- Minimum font size
- Individual Edit Site Preferences
- Something visible for downloading progress (a pop-up or an indication somewhere)
- Block Content on page
- RSS (but I thing that needs Mail)
- User mode CSS

This.

I would love to have many features but here are just a few.
1. The ability to highlight text and have it populate the quick commands text box.
2. The option to open new tabs in the current tab stack they are opened from.
3. The ability to drag and drop the icons all over the place like in Opera. -
A few things I would like to have implemented:
[ol]
- Ability to press Ctrl+Shift+V in the search field (not only the address field) to automatically hit Enter on what you are searching for
- Keyboard shortcuts for speed dial entries (Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2 etc.) like in older versions of Opera
- Show download speed in download manager, not only progress of the download
- When staring to type an address in the address field, get suggestion to go to the main site in stead of some subsite you have visited once and which is stored in the cache
- Support for video playback on Twitter. I constantly get an error message saying "This browser does not support video playback
[/ol]
