Bring back the former icons on the sidebar
-
The new sidebar icons look horrible. They are too thin, and don't match the design of the rest of the UI. There is absolutely no need to fill the icons when a certain panel is open. The line indicator is more than enough, plus you can color the stroke as well, if you restore the old, thicker icons.
In general, please, don't start to redesign parts of the UI! Either do an overall redesign, or just leave it as it is. We got used to Vivaldi not matching any OS native design on the market, but if you start changing parts of the UI in small steps, it will be a disaster.

I semi agree. I don't think the whole UI should be redesigned all at once, as that would enrage everybody (just look at firefox, it's users have been upset at proton for months). However, within the UI, the icons should probably be done all at once.

@Geniusak
I am not against an icon redesign in general, if done properly, but the new sidebar icons are horrible. The stroke is just too thin.I like the highlight color idea, but changing the stroke color works well on the Settings page. There is absolutely no need to fix what's not broken.

I personally Like the sidebar Icons, though they doo need a thicker stroke. I hate the rounded boxes like the URL bar and Tabs and wish there was a way to revert.
-
@Nekomajin, I would not go back to the old design but we do need to make the current sidebar itself slightly thicker and make the icons bigger. It is simply too small now.
Hope the devs can consider it.

@Luxuri
I am fine with new icons, but then they have to change those icons all over the UI at once, not in months. -
I am personally ok with the new style of icons on the sidebar, but the panels w/o borders are cumbersome.
It looks like there was no fine-tuning of the icons and panels shape.
Also, the titles on the Start page became bulkier.
All that looks just raw.I believe all that can be fixed by more precise tuning.

To be honest, Vivaldi does look significantly smaller compared to Opera, which seems to have the perfect size for both the sidebar and the icons in it. Really want that in Vivaldi:)))

The panel icons are the same size as the Status Bar icons = 16x12 pixels. The Address Bar icons are slightly bigger = 18x14 pixels.
Smaller icons is better for fitting more web panels, but a lot of space is wasted if that was the reason for the change. I guess the UI designers decided to unify them with the Status Bar. That seems reasonable to me. YMMV.
An option for Custom Web Panel Icons or Panel Custom Icons / Bigger Icons seems to be the obvious way to go with this.
A request to bring back old features is never likely to be implemented because the developers had their reasons to make a change, and spent time on implementing it.
