Sometimes Nightly is just so far off the bleeding edge
There is always a Beta for you
-
@Stardust What, choose to go from alpha to beta? Just how crazy do you think i am?

Yup, it's still not stable
-
@Stardust I prefer to match my browsers to my personality... Very Unstable.
-
Super silly sausage...

The Quantum-Nox-Firefox-Dark-Full-Theme for multiline tabs not works with 101.0 so I follow your advice to use Sidebery:
Fortunately it still works the autohide address bar part of the Mod.

Heehee, yay. IMO Sidebery is quite fantastic. Even though i do so much teasing [/trolling?] here in our forum about wanting native TST in V [which i really do!], in my FF-Nightly i superseded TST with S many months ago once i got the hang of its settings & discovered just how powerful it is [ie, TST is brilliant; S is even better].
Just imagine if we had that functionality in V, AND combined with V's tab previews? It'd be superb!
Wait, what? Hang on ... is your pic just a graphical mock-up, or actually real? We can't truly install Mozilla AOs in V, can we? I feel extra stupid even for asking that question out loud.

It is real.
What do you mean by "We can't truly install Mozilla AOs in V, can we?" Please explain.

When i replied to your post, i thought you were only joking. But then i began wondering if [considering you are more knowledgeable than me] maybe we can somehow download a Firefox AddOn, then install it into V. So, my simple question is...
did you really install Sidebery into Vivaldi?
-
No. I installed in Firefox.
-
@barbudo2005 Ah. That's what i believed... but then i began to doubt myself. I just now downloaded it as an
.xpi
file, expanded it, & was about to experiment in V with it... but ofc i realise now that'd be a waste of time. Oh well... -
Redditors jumping [except for one clueless clod who didn't even know the Mv3 asteroid was 6 months away, or more accurately, didn't even know there was such a thing].
-
Well, I jumped. I am now 100% off of V and onto to FF. The switch was actually pretty painless as extensions are near identical, can export/import their settings and bookmarks are a breeze.
V is still installed, but not the default and not pinned. I also removed my profile and made a new, fresh one with just my local development sites and Bitwarden loaded. This is day 3 of my V-tox and really is barely noticeable (for anything bad or missing). I have spent some time on the FF forums getting some UI tweaks figured out and I am real happy with the outcome.
V is still my main browser on my phone and tablets. We don't surf much on those and have AdGuard installed for blocks. V just looks good and works well on those devices.
I will still continue to promote V to family and friends if/when asked about a non-FF browser or just a base browser if they don't have a clue. I also still have this forum bookmarked on my Speed Dial because there is a lot of good information and really friendly people here.
As I have said in other posts, I have jumped and jumped back before, not only on browsers but other products. Mv3 is really big and looming. At least with FF we know some of what their plan is whereas the V team has been quiet. If they have made a comment, I have missed it and I apologize.
Was talking about this with the wife over coffee this morning (switched her PC as well). We were both remembering the old days w/Netscape and such and our first "feature rich" browser - Maxthon ! M1 and M2 was great, M3, not so much when it went the way of Opera, e.g. Chinese company involved. There were some really great features we used in M1 and M2 that we still haven't been able to replicate in any modern browser, e.g. the way they handled Tab Groups.
Anyway, good luck and best wishes to all.

Does that final line imply that you're also leaving the forum? You really do not need to. I've been regularly jumping back & forth between V-Snappie & FF-Nightly for several years now. Even during the many times that Nightly was my default [latest cycle of which only ended a couple of weeks ago, btw], i remained active in the forum, coz, ofc, we don't just "forget" our accumulated V knowledge/experience even when kissing foxes, so that we can still assist others & participate in the community vibe.
Fwiw, i emphatically share your Mv3 angst. I do feel more pessimistic than several others in the forum on this, who IMO seem to have a bit of "magical thinking" about it. I feel extremely happy with my years-evolved setup of my Snappie, AND of my Nightly, such that if V were to "die"* for me, my Nightly setup provides an also superb personalised browsing capability for my needs & idiosyncrasies.
* "Die" = lose the current uBO / uM capabilities, if Mv3 proves every bit as dire as @gorhill has been opining for years. For me, daily browserising sans-uBO/uM is simply non-negotiable; if gargle do indeed murder uBO/uM in chromium browsers, then jumping to Nightly full-time permanently would occur in a heartbeat. I'd be extremely sad to lose my V, & certainly hope it won't come to that, but i know where my line in the sand is.

we still have 6 months

T'other week i belatedly deployed this wunnerful wunnerful mod to autohide my Vivaldi-Snappie bookmark bar. It's so cool, & i'm enjoying it every day [why on earth had i not thought of this years ago? ].
Consequently, this arvo, on a whim, i decided it's about time my FF-Nightly gained a similar bit of love. That soon lead to this, which equally works beautifully.
In this shitty hateful destructive world, other peeps' random generosity continues to comfort me.

So it 's looks like this issue only windows-related.
Luckily in Vivaldi we have UI scaling setting -

Hahahahaha, yet again, stoopid windoze lies at the heart of global misery & hardship.
I've been seeing endless moans, whinges & anger across reddit for the past several days on this, & was completely baffled yet amused. My FF 103, & Nightly 103-->104-->105 never had any such problem. I didn't understand it, but couldn't be bothered to investigate my

, ha. Now your linked article ends the mystery. Ta. -
