Adblock feature for youtube
-
There is a Adblock for youtube extension for desktop browser and it works well.
It would be great to have possibility to watch videos without ads on mobile browser. Thanks!
-
@int512 , yes, there are adblockers for YouTube, but they are never 100% efficient for long, Google doesn't like adblockers on his services*.
On Android I use Blokada, which is quite efficient, apart from also avoiding the ads that are in the installed apps.
(download and install from this link, or from F-Droid, the version on Google Play is a very shortened version*) -
@int512 You gotta add more lists to the internal adblocker. Do you know how to add lists?
-
@luetage , unfortunately still not possible on Vivaldi Android
-
@Catweazle Of course it’s possible, you gotta train on your Vivaldi Android Fu me thinks ^^
-
@luetage , Yes, I have already realized it, but just like on the desktop, where I have YT filter in Vivaldi, they don't work very well or they do work, but they block entire YT.
-
@Catweazle Yep, has nothing to do with Android though. Maybe we get extensions for Android, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. After all no one writes extensions for mobile.
-
@luetage , as I say, Blokada works quite well.

The current Vivaldi ads lists don't block YouTube ads? I don't see ads, maybe I couldn't find a videos with ads?

There is an awesome uBlock Origin, it blocks ads, so you don't need another extension for YouTube. There is also a great YouTube app - NewPipe (available on F-Droid)
-
@Stardust You can sometimes see short intro ads/banners that disappear after 5 seconds. I haven’t really looked into it how to get this done with lists. Also I don’t really watch videos on mobile.

I just use the app sometimes.

I certainly see sometimes some ad in YT for a few seconds at the beginning, though no more. But I have the filters on it in Vivaldi's adblocker.
But where it is really clear the need for an adblocker in YT, it is on my TV, that because of my disrecognise in this topic, buy from the LG brand, that with its WebOS, instead of Android of others makes it impossible to add any adblocker or other app and there you have to suprite even publi-reportages in the middle of a concert or something else on YouTube , without it being avoided. WebOS does not support any plug-ins that are not in the store itself (apart from some games and various craps, besides paid, it takes well little).
Notice to navigators, do not buy LG TV. Good TVs but a crappy OS. -

Ouch! And you also can't install Vivaldi!
Have you look at Pi-hole?
https://pi-hole.net -
@Stardust , In WebOS you can't install nothing, you have to use the trashy browser of WebOS, yes or yes. Next TV is everything, but not LG.
Yes, I know Pi-Hole, but for use it you need a dedicated PC as server. -

Just connect your PC and you can use a proper browser like Vivaldi
-
@Stardust , yes, i tried it (I have the PC in another room, but WebOS also has a crappy WiFi app and transmissions from PC are "stop-motion", even the WiFi connection with the router, which is 4m away, on the TV often has outages.
Like I said, WebOS is rubbish.
When I want to see a Film or a concert, I put it on a pendrive to see it in the TV, the only manner. -
@Catweazle well, what about the good old HDMI direct connection?
-
@Stardust , yes, but somewhat complicated, due the PC in another room and the router en front of the TV in the living room, that mean that i need a 4m cable crossing the room. Pendrive is better. Or throw the TV out the window and buy one with Android, even better.
