Quick Commands and Speed Dial updates – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2209.3

@luetage Cool! And It's your turn now! :face_savouring_delicious_food:
-
@Stardust Reported as
VB-77310
. I mentioned the other bug number. -

There is an empty area in the thumbnail preview:
There is an odd value declared for that, it's locked at
170px
, been that way for a few stables too. Try this.create-bookmark > .button-popup .thumbnail-image { height: unset !important; max-height: unset !important; }

You're scaring me off of this Snapshot for fear of what Speed Dial mods are going to be broken...
-
[Panels] Periodic reload steals focus (VB-76536)
Thank you for that. It has been bugging me since forever as VB-37747 and it was realy a pain!
I was thinking about writing a post about Vivaldi not fixing long standing annoying bugs but with the last two snapshots, you fixed half of the ones that were bugging me, thank you! Keep fixing bugs, I think you have a lot of the features in already!
-
@luetage: Different strokes. I want the focus in the address bar when starting Vivaldi, and finally it has reverted to that. The poor developers: damned if they do, damned if they don't.
-
I don't find the new tiles ugly, in fact I like them, but I coincide with nellaiseemai: I would like to have favicons for urls and custom icons for folders. Customizing every single url is a drag and when you have to install Vivaldi to a new computer, it's a pain in the ass.
Two days after the new version, I find the new tiles much better, more refined, less crude and favicons-ready in case the devs gives us this choice. Maybe the best aesthetic development since Vivaldi opened its way. -
@wpcoe Nah, it needs to be in the hands of the users. We have a setting for it and it should take precedence. If there are users who want the focus in the address field on the startpage, but nowhere else, it should be a feature request and up for consideration. The current behavior is a bug.
-
@sjudenim thanks, it is not a big problem for me and I'm not a mod user
-
The lines that appear across animated images remain on M1 Macs.
-
@saudiqbal: Pardon my asking, but why is the search bar necessary, if you can perform a search from the address bar?

I dont use the search bar, it is removed from my address bar, the focus goes to search bar on the speed dial instead of the address bar when I press the home button.
-
@saudiqbal Why do you have the search bar on speed dial even enabled? I never understood the purpose of it. It’s probably the worst tool to issue a search available in Vivaldi.
-
Guys please those black borders around speed dials are ugly...
Also: why square on a landscape screen?
Please make us choice wich layout we prefer, I loved the old one, hate this new one, no offense intended -
@atlemo: I kinda liked this border. Maybe add a slider to control the border's width?

Any plans for Reload all speed dial thumbnails and Reload every x minutes?
Doesn't Reload or F5 work while Speed Dial is active?
Damn, I didn't even thought about trying F5, I'm used to right-click refresh all (from some other browser which I don't recall), so yeah, that works lol, thanks.
-
@luetage because there are some searches that cannot be completed using the address bar, like code searches.
-
Please, for the sake of our sanity: Set
.thumbnail-image img
toobject-fit: contain; object-position: center;
So we don't have to have to use exact bloody pixel-perfect dimensions for our custom thumbnails...
I can deal with SD mods breakage, I don't have a lot of modding there anyway, but this is such a small change and would be a big help.
Also please add an option to
not show the faviconshave the text centred under the thumbnail. The favicon is useless when we're using custom thumbs of the site icon anyway. EDIT: I see now we have an option to not show the favicons -
@Pathduck Or basically instead of this:
[New][Speed Dial][Settings] Updated layout for Start Page Speed Dials: like Android (VB-72606)
(that literally no one asked for in this forum, or I haven't read the latest 5-6 "Snapshots" thoroughly enough)do this:
[New][Speed Dial][Settings] Updated layout for Start Page Speed Dials: like Desktop (VBA-72606)
-
I see that many people don't like the new speed dials. I have to say though, I like the new look a lot
