Quick Commands and Speed Dial updates – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2209.3

I'm definitely not looking forward to the amount of modding I'll have to do when I get back... I guess I'll have to remove everything in the beginning
Or learn Python & do some experimenting with the kyute browser
Btw., does the address field focus work with
chrome.tabs.create({})
or what was it? -
@ugly Are you using Calendars and may this be related to https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/57147/it-s-about-time-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-2202-3/77?_=1614190397477 ?
-
@jumpsq I have calendar and mail enabled, but I don't really have anything in my calendar.
It seems like I had a vivaldi-bin process that resulted in the high CPU load. It remained at full load even after I closed the browser. I had to kill the process manually. CPU load seems like it's back to normal on a restart.

Update of Quick Commands, thank you.
-
I love your work on Speed Dials; thank you!

@atlemo Thanks, as I said above the Chropera times were very dark times where they kept making bizarre decisions, not listening to anyone, infuriating almost everyone, "testing the waters" before reverting changes (even after months) after having made everyone mad, so having been burned by that unfortunately I became suspicious and jumpy, waving red flags as soon as possible, thus next time be so kind mentioning these things in the "known issues" beforehand please .

Since the jump to 3.7 the start page as new tab page has the focus in the address bar, albeit I activated “focus page content in new tab.” That’s unfortunate, because I never want to have the address bar in focus, messes up one key shortcuts. Had to switch to another new tab page. Is this a bug or on purpose?

@luetage are u talking about this:

Thank you for making Vivaldi better.
Now, I don't know if this just me or a general problem with tab tiling. When you open the Notes manager at below or above 100% zoom (e.x. text at 50% or 150%) and you tile that with another tab, the user interface also zooms in or out at the same level (e.x. 50% or 150%). Can someone confirm this?
-
@Stardust Very good, I don’t have to report it ^^
-
@luetage you are welcome! Glad that I am not the only one who uses Speed Dial navigation by arrow keys
VB-77187
-
@Stardust I use speed dials only for mobile, but the startpage is a good new tab page in any case. I only ever want to open quick commands with a single key shortcut and the focus in the address bar forces me to press escape or use F2 instead. What I also noticed is that the new tab page always has focus in address bar when opening a new window… I know people nagged about not having focus in the address bar for long, but this should just be decided by the setting, not for everyone.

Yes! +1000
I have to press Esc or Tab. Very annoying
Hoping for the quick fix. -
Please give option to chose favicons or images from websites for speed dial. I'm tired of setting up speed dials on different systems. The moment i change a speed dial or few in a system i had to set it it up on other synced systems.
In addition, is it possible to have different speed dials for desktop and mobile? I want to have different sets of speed dials for desktop and mobile.
Thanks

@Stardust I don’t know what you reported exactly, but this might not be included. The startpage as new tab page always has focus, no matter whether it’s being loaded as new tab in the current window, or as first tab in a new window. But any page set as new tab page will have the focus in the address bar in a new window. Could you add that?

Not sure if it is possible to add that to the old bug report
I think we should create a new bug report linked to the VB-77187 -
Pressing the home button still focuses the search bar and not the address bar.
-
@Stardust Hmmm, maybe. I am gonna report it.
-
@luetage Cool! And It's your turn now! :face_savouring_delicious_food:

@Stardust Reported as
VB-77310
. I mentioned the other bug number.
