I tried to find the original song Penny Jane but I could only find the alternative, but that would also do the job, based on melody

With great sadness, i now find myself with no alternative but to uninstall Plasma & change to
gnomeenlightenment.I mean, after this epic insult,
nobody
could continue to use plasma & still sleep at night nor look themselves in the mirror next day. Shirley! Both KDE Plasma and Xfce are tailored to provide the most comfortable Windows-like experience in a Linux distribution. However, KDE can be a more suitable choice.
This is a big deal for users who recently switched from Windows to Linux to experience the perks. Many tech journos seem to churn out banal columns like this, offering no new insights nor inspirations, but instead apparently just to get their editor off their back.

@guigirl yeah in general I avoid reading that kind of articles of popular sites (by popular I mean those that are targeted to the general audience). Ankush Das, a Computer Science graduate. Right...
Xfce has evolved over the years to provide elementary-OS-like visuals out of the box.
lol what?
-
@guigirl I thought (& btw I was told) Plasma would be the best choice if someone wanted to have some Mac-like experience on Linux.
So don't be upset & take that article as a tribute to Plasma: it can be whatever you want . -
@hlehyaric Geez i hate optimists!
-
Quite interesting, including Nate's remarks.
I laughed out loud at this:
Just curious; why would you not use KDE Neon?
then snorted in delight at the deft put-down:
Neon is built on Ubuntu. That's why I don't use it.
-
@guigirl That and what a Manjarian said...
Both are similar. Both are inferior to arch+aur, and the packages that i use that i did not find in one weren't present in the other.
-
Yay for the new release! This distro needs more recognition!
Oh what a dope! That command would never work there...

At time of writing, not one of these goobers has recognised the [highly probable] root cause.

I bet they're running their browser without native window. Sigh, peeps today...

Occasionally [say, once every 42 Halley's Comet transits] i reassess whether my abject dislike of buntu, & mockery of it as "the illicit child of a coupling between a cerebrally-challenged penguin & a pane of glass" might be a tad mean & unfounded. Then, 42 picoseconds later i note ongoing shyte like this, & so i reaffirm that no, it really is just a shitty distro.
-
@guigirl To me it's the combination of various parameters in that distro-ecosystem that makes it so disturbing.

...&, as this forum bears witness, so damn problematic. Our Arches seem constantly to be more reliable & robust than these buntus, not least wrt V. Tbh i find it ironically hilarious.

Yes, finally! Since i first posted about it several[?] months ago, i've been checking my Neon Unstable VM after each monthly update, waiting/hoping to see the promised Plasma 5.25 Application Launcher resize capability, yet til today it was always instead just the bitter tears of devastating disappointment. No longer!!
Menu scrollbars be forever gone!
Only a little while longer now before we Arching Plasmoidalisers get it too, yabber dabber doooooo.
-
@guigirl When sometimes feeling elementaryosish I kinda wish this would be also further developed/at least updated to not crash the plasma session: https://store.kde.org/p/1169537/

to not crash the plasma session
Oh whinge whine moan! Some peeps want everything; to have a menu AND also expect to be able to use it!
First world problems.
