@guigirl Don't worry, there's that famous Beatles song called "Penny Jane" , I will link to that later so that the... melody sticks in your head 'til tomorrow
-
-
@npro Now you've gone & made my guitar gently weep.
-
Hahahaaa, @guigirl is thinking if she collect as many "You can only upvoteβ¦" , she will get the famose Icelandic Washing Machine from Vivaldi & Geysir Ltd.

@guigirl said in Arching Vivaldifarians.:

Wow, you are the unknown sistar Georgina Harrisdottir with relation to ol' George from brit's Fab Four?
-
-
Did you aver had tried to compile NVidia driver on Arch?
I am in trouble with my GT720 -
-
@DoctorG I ask because i do not want to fetch Gigabytes of source for kernel/module and then fail after hours of compiling code.
-
@DoctorG I assume you've already found that the open-source drivers for your gpu are no good?
-
@guigirl No, that is always the same since decades with NVidia & Linux - the Open Source drivers are not good enuff.
-
@DoctorG Yeah, that's why i chose in my early Linux years, once i came to learn how troublesome nvidia gpu's were in Linux, to physically remove my cheapo nvidia from my tower & only use the integrated gpu. It's been great for me ever since.
-
@guigirl Unfortunately my Intel i915 GPU is a crap for meetings and video.
-
@DoctorG Oh, but but but...

... whowhat?
yeah Ncrapia dropped Kepler support some time ago, last supported driver is 470, you 'd need the dkms drivers in the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidia-470xx-dkms, kernel headers too, more to read in the wiki ofc...
-
@npro I feared that answer
-
@DoctorG Stick to the lts kernel with older hardware, you 'll get far less rebuilds. Shouldn't take much time to build either.
