Vivaldi takes tabs to the next level, literally

Will Google advertise G.Chrome have 2 level tab stack as new innovative feature 20 years from today?
Yep. Right after Chrome brings out another new innovative feature: The menu bar!

It would be good to add a checkbox like this one:
Divide tab bar on two rows when there's more than
️ tabs open
-
Great improvemnt! And it could be better if the miniature images stay in the tabs.
After I upgraded Vivaldi the checkbox for enabling the miniature images was switched off. After reactivating it these images returned. That is good. But if a second tab bar appears, the mess starts:- in the first tab row the images disappears
- in the second tab row you can change the height of the mini images, but can not get back the images in the first row.
- if the second tab row disappears the mini images in the first tab row are to high, e.g. thier bottom border is there where the bottom border of the second row images was.
I want to keep the mini images visible in the first tab row if a second tab row appears without any height changes. Would that be possible?

Not yet fixed when opening a tab the cursor selecting the address bar, sad
I always need to press the shortcut ctrl+l -
Would like to make a request to shift the private window indicator somewhere else. I'm used to having my extensions at the right end of the address bar. It's much easier to move the mouse all the way to the end instead of having to adjust the distance that I need to move depending on the window.
In the meantime, here's my CSS mod to shift it back roughly where it used to be:
/* Shift private window indicator roughly back to old position */ .SearchField, .UrlBar-AddressField, .toolbar-extensions { order: 1; }

Sempre incríveis! aguardo ansioso pela versão IOS... Obrigado e abraços do Brasil!

@culip: You can (I didn't know this before) but under tabs on customisation, you can set the with of the tabs as you wish
-
@barbadelluvia Only the active tab. Other tabs shrink when the tab bar fills up.
-
@quhno: Maybe you can set the tabs to be wider? I have mine set to a minimum of 90 pixels and with 28 tabs on one stack, I can still read the titles of them, I don't know how to paste a screenshot, so you can take a look at my screen.
Also when you place the mouse over a tab you get the name of the tab. I hope this helps. -
Just LOVE the new two-level tab stack feature! For me, it basically makes tab-stacks actually usable. I have multiple web-based email accounts and tried stacking them before but it was too clunky to try and switch between them. Now, I click on the top-level for email and the various email accounts are shown on the second line--BEAUTIFUL!

One of the finest releases for me, apart from the tab stack improvement I was eagerly anticipating
- non-lazy Panels
- customizable Window Panel menu entries
- youtube subscriptions via RSS (wip but still nice to have)
to reach Stable. Nice work Vivaldi team!

@xyzzy Since I only have Chrome 89 and Edge 89, which may fix it, I'll at least test with Vivaldi (88) to see if I can reproduce it at all.
Speaking of Edge, they just put out minor update 88.0.705.56 today. Maybe it helps?

Very nice blog-post with cute screenshots and video!

Greetings from Russia friends! Great update, but a little lacking in functionality (Or maybe I didn't understand how to do it)
Is it possible to add sites from different domains to "Stack Tabs" or "Group Tabs"? If not, then I would really like to see this feature, it would greatly expand the use cases

Just drag one tab, wait a second, and drop it onto another. Or, select multiple-tabs, right-click and stack them.
-
Thank you, now this is one of my favorite features!
-
@xyzzy OK, so I tried that with the last Dev release, which is essentially the same as this one and about which several reported the problem. The window was active but not full screen.
The only difference from what you said: I waited about an hour, but I can't imagine that would matter.
After waking the screen, scrolling was normal. I'm on Win10 (21301).
BTW, what if you have Vivaldi minimized? Do you have the problem then? I didn't but am wondering if that's a workaround.
-
@rseiler No, I can still reproduce the "freeze" with that build. Hopefully we will get a fix for this soon.

These new two-level tab stacks are a brilliant idea, I've instantly fallen in love with them!
But please, add a keyboard shortcut for opening link as a tab in the current stack (the same way CTRL+Click opens a new tab) - it would instantly make this feature 10x more useful!I know there is a possibility to set ALL the links to be opened in stacks. However, it would be much, much more convenient and efficient if one could stick with the default behaviour (of opening links in a new, independent tab) but with an option of designating f.ex ALT-Click to open them in the current stack instead.
I really hope the developers give this proposal some serious consideration. Still, I think this is the most exciting new feature ever - Good Job!
