Ransomware.

@Xeonic That's even stranger. A past infection probably infected ubo, if you took it from the store
@zalpaw I think is the same issue. But if parts of the threat are in the ubo addon, I really can't suggest to whitelist Vivaldi. Too risky. Please, revert that.
Using another extension or the native blocker could be a workaround in the wait.
-
@Gwen-Dragon But why is triggered from ubo?
-
-
@iAN-CooG didn't work for me
-
let me be honest.
I installed this browser to get away from this kind of problem. -
There are several cases of false detections in uBlock Origin lists
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Software-known-to-have-uninstalled-uBlock-Origin
You either have to change your AV to a better one, or remove uBlock Origin. I'd choose the former. -
@iAN-CooG It worked just fine when I was using firefox, so it has to be some browser problems
-
Hoping it helps, but yeah, Ian has right then...
@zalpaw That could be as Defender do particular whitelists to chrome|firefox not to trigger the issue.
But when an AV shows such false positive can become annoying.
If is the case, just whitelist the ublock extension folder in Windows Defender, not the whole Vivaldi. -

Coincidences, probably you are using different versions of the lists in FF and Vivaldi and some strings are detected only in Vivaldi's uBO.
It's in any case Not a Vivaldi problem, but a AV caused false problem with uBO lists. I repeat, change AV to a better one, change lists in uBO or remove uBO at all from your Vivaldi. -
With Windows 10 watched folder access, you are protected against ransomware.

And secure Windows with an administrator password:

@iAN-CooG yeah I will do just fine, i now know how to fix this thanks to you guys, but you can see the latest OP respond, which he clearly said that he didn't want any problems, and will probably switch browser. There are way way more potential non-tech users that won't know how to fix this, so vivaldi may lose some potential users. I hope that vivaldi devs can do something about this, as this isn't a problem in, for example firecocks. Ublock is definitley one of the most popular adblocks so its worth trying to do something about this. My friend uses chrome, has ublock and he doesnt have any problems.
-
I will do this after my online class. Will tell you if it worked out
-
That threat warning does not look like a heuristic detection but rather a signature detection.
Open vivaldi and open task manager and see if any foreign processes are running.Has the browser been executed with all extensions disabled.?
Long time since i used windows but i would go into safe mode first and then start hunting around.
-
@Gwen-Dragon seems like problem repaired itself. I just installed ublock after 5h and everything works. Maybe devs did some quick update. Anyway thanks for helping

How? Is clearly a Windows Defender issue... What Vivaldi+Defender+UblockOrigin users can do is annoy M$ to fix their heuristic/signature detection. And help people who ask for help.
Probably an article on Ublock+Defender+Vivaldi issues will be helpful for some but would be a bad advertisement for Vivaldi so probably won't happen. -
//edit (misread the feedback)
-
Tested it again and windows defender activates itself again. Also i found out that it blocks whenever i launch vivaldi game
-
@zalpaw Weird. I have Windows 10 (2004) with Windows Security and I have no issues running Vivaldia (or Vivaldi in general).
