Speed Dial Bookmarks Folder
-
I am trying to drag and drop bookmarks into speed dial but they do not show up. I have to make a new folder for them to show up which then shows up under the bookmarks tab. "Speed Dial" shows up in the bookmark bar at the top, under the web address bar. I don't want that, I want them as big boxes on the default new window screen.
I just want the bookmarks in speed dial. I also would like the bookmarks NOT to show a preview of the page, but like this
I'm thinking of switching from Opera because Opera doesn't allow websites to be bookmarked in multiple times in different places. Opera has the ability for the big speed dial bookmark to show like above. I really don't want a web view because my eyes are bad and it's impossible to tell what website is what.
Also, how do I get the auto fill in form boxes to go away? I don't want any forms to be filled except password fields. How do I delete them?

Search “autofill” in
vivaldi://settings
and disable. As for the speed dial, it’s basically just bookmarks folders. Visitvivaldi://bookmarks
or open the bookmarks panel and right‐click a folder you want to set as speed dial. Then click “Use as Speed Dial,” or “Remove from Speed Dial” should you wish to remove it from display. You basically gotta make your own folders for it and then assign them. Don’t work from the startpage directly, but do it from the bookmarks page/panel. -

Done that but how do I remove what is in the autofill? Now it shows information (and autofills) before I had disabled it.
Okay, so now that I'm in the reply to your comment, I have no way of viewing your comment... so I'm going by memory here. (This is THE MOST frustrating help community forum I have ever used.)
Thank you - the speed dials are there but I DON'T want the page preview. I simply want the logo "YouTube" "FaceBook" etc. like Opera allows. I also still have the speed dial bookmark in the bookmark tab up by file edit view. I don't need it there, I don't want it there, I just want the bookmarks on the actual speed dial page itself.
I made it full screen because the reply box was too small and I don't know how to make it half size. I tried pressing esc but no avail. This is not a very user friendly browser...

@dsafdsafdas The forum software has nothing to do with Vivaldi browser itself, you just aren’t used to it. At the bottom when you reply, there is a big circle which you can click to toggle the reply element/form. At top left of the reply element is another circular button which you can use to expand/contract the reply element. Hope this helps.
To remove bookmarks from the menu open
vivaldi://settings/appearance/
and under Menu and Menu customization select “Vivaldi Button Menu.” Then right click the bookmarks entry and delete. Should you have the Horizontal Menu enabled select that one and then delete the bookmarks entry from there. If you want everything on one speed dial page create a folder on the bookmarks page and drag all the other folders into it. Then set that folder as speed dial. Should you want no other folders simply drag all bookmarks into the new folder and then delete the other folders. Make sure you don’t delete any wanted bookmarks. This way everything is on the speed dial page.
As for the thumbnails on the startpage… you can either create custom thumbnails yourself, use thumbnails created by the community ☛ https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/17568/i-made-a-huge-thumbnail-pack, or automate it with an extension ☛ https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/25233/speed-dial-generator.
As you can see almost every part of Vivaldi can be adapted to your needs. You just gotta know how.

The forum software is very frustrating. I help elderly people and this is the kind of issues that keep them isolated from computer and social media which they use to keep in touch with their grandchildren. I don't see any circles so I'm typing this in a box that is only two lines high. Very frustrating.
I guess I don't find Vivaldi very intuitive and that's my issue. I don't mind customization but I feel that it should just work out of the box and you don't have to go and learn all the nuances of the software to get it to how you normally like it. I replaced my drive with a new SSD drive and thought this would be a great way to try something new since I've not migrated any of my preferences over from the old hard drive. I've been trying to get this browser somewhat normal since 8am and it's now 11:30am.
Then right click the bookmarks entry and delete. Should you have the Horizontal Menu enabled select that one and then delete the bookmarks entry from there.
Did that, it still shows up under the bookmarks tab.
If you want everything on one speed dial page create a folder on the bookmarks page and drag all the other folders into it.
I don't want a speed dial folder, I just want it to show up when I open a new tab/window. I don't want to have to go take more time, now I've been at this for three/four hours now which I think is an excessive amount of time to spend trying to get a web browse to work.) I shouldn't have to go and make/source files so I can have readable speed dial bookmarks. I don't know why this browser can't full something similar like it does the favicon for the speed dial buttons.
Other issues:
I like most pages at 120% magnification. I will change the magnification and when I click off that page to another page of the some domain, it goes back to 100%... so then I have to change it again, rinse repeat. In Opera, when I changed magnification, it would do so for the whole domain, not that specific page.I would like six speed dial bookmark buttons per row. I looked to change that, but I can't.
I don't know how to close it out of full screen other than hoping the button will show up in the left hand corner and not trigger my hot corner for Mission Control. Why can't I simply hit the ESC button?
I was really hoping to try out a new browser since there are issues with the others that I didn't like. I like trying new things but this is really really frustrating.
