Vivaldi browser does not load on Chromebook
-
Chromebook 14 (CB3-431)Acer: have this model which supports android apps. and the updated vivaldi, but nothing will load. none of the vivaldi pages will load anything at all. i love this browser and use it on my iMac, and pretty bummed i cant get it to work on my Chromebook. any help would be great. it shows to "Aw snap" i try to "see suggestions" and just takes me to another "cant open this page" and wont allow me to click the "send feedback" either. and the older version did the same exact thing.

Here is a thread on the issue that instead of displaying web pages the error "Aw, Snap!" is shown by Vivaldi on Android. In my reply I mentioned a solution found on a web page, which did NOT solve the issue for me, but maybe it is helpful for you.

@md42x tysm for the effort. that did not work for me either unfortunately. but again, tysm!

@AngellaMae Can’t you run Crostini and install the desktop Vivaldi? I figure it would be neater to get the real deal instead of the Android version. No idea whether this would work either of course, don’t have access to Chrome OS , or your specific Chromebook.

@luetage i will try this, tysm for the suggestion!!

@luetage Since I haven't been able to get the Android Vivaldi to work on my Chromebook either, I installed the Linux version of Vivaldi on my Chromebook today, and it runs remarkably well. It's much faster than the Chromebook Linux Firefox, and I say that as someone who has made Firefox my go-to browser for almost everything on the desktop and Android. The big advantage of the Linux Vivaldi (as well as the slower Firefox) on a Chromebook over the Android alternatives to Chrome is that it doesn't have the limitations that the Android browsers have being tied to what is still mostly a mobile operating system.

Interesting I guess, as I run Vivaldi for Android on my Lenovo Chromebook Duet all the time. Though I suppose that begs the question - does yours have a touchscreen? The Duet does... I was just thinking some Android apps might have problems on non-touchscreen Chromebooks.
