Three Cheers to Vivaldi 3.4: a powerful and fun version arrives
-
Unfortunately 3.4 is a very unstable version: the application randomly quits, without displaying the dialog box to send a bug report. Fortunately when it restarts I still have my 2 windows (with plenty of tabs each), but in this situation for me it's unusable.
I'm going to uninstall and go back to 3.3 until there's a fix for it.
Sorry, but stability should be the most important thing, especially for a browser (which is THE primary tool nowadays for anybody). Games should go to the bottom of the priorities... -
@cdimauro I can't confirm that... Vivaldi 3.4 is very stable. It's probably because of your PC.
-
@cdimauro Just out of curiousity have you tried unticking the vivaldia game in settings.
When i installed 3.4 earlier today i noticed that vivaldi was vanishing for no apparent reason.(could be my old computer.?).When i unticked the game box everything returned to normal and i have not experienced it since. -
@stardepp: I perfectly known what I'm talking about. BEFORE the 3.4 Vivaldi was quite stable. I just updated it to 3.4, and NOW I'm getting very frequent quits of the application. So, it's definitely NOT a problem of my PC (which is rock solid).
-
@priest72: not tried before, but the problem is exactly what you reported: Vivaldi vanishes (randomly: I didn't found the root cause) without any specific reason.
I've disable Vivaldia now, as you suggested, after reinstalling the 3.4: let's see if it's back working. Thanks for suggestion! -
@priest72: the browser is more stable now, but it still vanishes from time to time.
However I've found a way to reproduce it:- open a new tab with the speed dial;
- do NOT click on any item: just leave the tab showing the speed dial;
- go to another application;
- after around 17-18s Vivaldi quits.

I cannot reproduce, even without disabling the game. Have you tested in a new/clean profile? Here's Vivaldi's guide to Troubleshooting Issues.
-
@bonetone: the issue doesn't manifest when I've tried with a guest, and then also with a new profile. But it shows-up after closing the window with the new profile, following the above steps.
So, it's something which is related to my profile (my speed dial) that makes Vivaldi quit. -

Or possibly an extension, but we're narrowing down the cause. One thing to try would be disabling all extensions, and if that resolves the issue, then enable them one-by-one testing each time until you find the offending extension.
-
@Tonywoolf Unfortunately it has been reset but you can re-enable the setting to use small speed dials in Android in Settings > Appearance > Start Page.

I love Vivaldia! It brings nostalgic vibes. Thank you Vivaldi!

Hoping soon we will also see the words - "Vivaldi for Mac and iOS" it's gonna be a big tap to a professional market!

@AstralDust True if some Deparment of Justice or the chinese front called Epic Games that made billions out of teens with shady microtransactions, together with the all-arounder monopolistic -always innocent- frankybeast called Micro$oft that didn't lose its chance to jump the massacre train don't tear it apart . I hope -I'm sure- Apple has some good lobbyists 'cause the war will be hard...

www.instagram.com/vivaldibrowser - No Sound on latest stable for Mac. Also no sound on other websites. Ver. 3.3 was the same.
So many features, but some laughably gimmicky for a web browser, helping only the social engineered marketing to promote it and get the buzz on the Internet: Vivaldia, the trending super hero woman to fight the bad guys on the web. But sadly, the very basic function of any web browser, to fully load web pages and run all the web elements on them, it is often broken on the web sites.
The discussion on forum is driven by a handful of long times members, wandering daily chic chatting with moderators, and only the issues encountered by them are acknowledged and given priority.
Got a mostly good run with Vivaldi since ver. 1.13, thanks. But it should be the time to move on.
-
@bonetone: I disabled all extensions, but the issue still pops-up.

It seems that custom keyboard shortcuts and custom mouse gestures are broken in this version. I don't know what other details to tell you other than that I'm on windows 10 running version 3.4.2066.76 (Stable channel) (64-bit).
My custom mouse gesture is supposed to mute tabs and is a simple right then left gesture, and my custom keyboard shortcut is CTRL+. (I know this could be a conflict, but the other function is obviously unbound) which is also supposed to mute the active tab.EDIT: Seems like this is a bug related to muting tabs and NOT as I said a shortcut and mouse gesture bug. Sorry about that.
-
@cdimauro So yeah, then it appears the issue is probably with your profile then. I just realized we've been discussing this in the blog post thread. It's probably best if you would start your own thread if you need further help at this point.

There's an error with localization of time spans for the new Periodic reload feature. In Polish it shows:
- "minutę"
- "minuty"
- "minut"
- "minut"
- "minut"
The inflection is correct, but there is no number in front of the word.

On Vivaldia: BLOAT. Excess code for bugs and vulnerabilities to lurk in.
Can I get a CLEAN verrsion?

Hello Vivaldi Team!
I'd like to request adding an option to mirror / flip pictures within "page actions" menu. Please.
Many Thanks
