Automatically Switch to New Tabs When Opened
-
Okay. I am brand new to Vivaldi and to this forum so, please be patient with me here.
With Firefox, there is a setting where you can have the browser automatically switch to a new tab when you open one. I cannot seem to find that in the Vivaldi setting.
Vivaldi is such a cool, versatile browser I cannot believe it cannot do that.
I tried holding down the control key while clicking the link like you do with Firefox but though the new tab opens Vivaldi does not automatically switch to it.
I tried holding the control/shift keys like with Edge but that opens a new instance of Vivaldi with that tab.
Would someone please tell me what setting I need to set to get Vivaldi to not only open a new tab but automatically switch to it? -
@TheDarkelf Vivaldi, like all Chrome-based browsers starts a new process for each new tab opened, so the default left click encourages the reuse of the current tab.
- Hold down Shift to open links in a new foreground tab
- Hold down Ctrl to open links in a new background tab
- Use MMB to open links in a new background tab
- In Settings, Mouse, define a mouse gesture to open links in a new tab over a link.

Is not right-click and open link in new tab the desired result for you.?
