Show keyboard shortcut in button tooltip
-
As you know, Vivaldi is so rich with keyboard shortcuts, customization & options. The trouble is learning the keyboard shortcuts.
My suggestion is to add the keyboard equivalent in hover state (in a way replicating the toolbar drop down menu). That way the user can be reminded of the keystroke shortcut in real time.
Hopefully this is not a duplicate request & makes sense.

@janrifkinson Do you mean like the keyboard cheat sheet? (Ctrl+F1 by default) or something else?

I think the keyboard shortcut cheat sheet covers what users need, there just isn't a clear spot for what a hover state would be for so many of these actions that I don't think it would make sense to try to do it for some partial list of keyboard keyboard shortcut actions. There's also the question of which keyboard shortcut do you display when the user has several assigned to one action. The keyboard shortcuts are not hardcoded into the browser, even the defaults assign multiple shortcuts to some actions. Hence the cheat sheet which the user can popup with a keyboard shortcut or a mouse action depending on what is assigned to that action.

@janrifkinson If you use the menus, the assigned shortcuts are displayed. That may be enough of a reminder as using the menus would be the obvious choice on forgetting the shortcut.

@LonM Actually I was thinking of something else. When hovering over a toolbar command, that a hint would appear to remind user of shortcut keystrokes. I find it's a good learning aid & have it w several programs. So, for example hovering over File > Exit would trigger an <Alt><F4> hint. Thanks.

@Pesala What you say is true. Maybe my suggestion is un-necessary.

@janrifkinson Ah, it is already in menus I think. Perhaps in the tooltip of buttons, like this:
I understand now.
-
@LonM exactly!
Great learning tool IMHO

I think this request may be a duplicate of:

So, I'm going to change the title of this request to focus on buttons instead.
