Another interesting AI search engine (especially for developers) Perplexity told me about is PHIND.
Search URL:
https://phind.com/search?q=%s
I've tried to use this as URL for search suggestions, but it didn't workhttps://phind.com/api/suggestions?client=chrome&qq=%s
. In the network tab of the developer tools I saw that the page is calling this URL for search suggestions. -
Academic search engine Scinapse
We're better than Google Scholar. We mean it

@Catweazle As mentioned by @jumbomiku and @WildEnte in
https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/643829You.com (private mode)
https://you.com/search?incognito=true&q=%25s&utm_source=vivaldi_browser -
Update 24 February 2023:
The search engines Linguee added. This is an English-German Dictionary. And other languages. οΈ

Another AI search, HotBot
https://www.hotbot.com/web?q=%s
-
@Catweazle I remember HotBot from way back. It was a good search engine, not so sure now...
Is this what's called AI "hallucinating"?
In October 2016, Lycos sold the
Hotbot.com
domain name for $155,000 to an unnamed buyer.[14] Afterwards, the HotBot domain became home to an unrelated shopping search site, ending the 20 year history of the original site. In April 2018, the domain was put under new ownership and became an unrelated privacy-focused search engine. As of 2020, the HotBot domain is controlled by a VPN company based in Seychelles.

@Pathduck I know, but the search results are correct (with an ad from Opera), not so the AI answer, the same as yours, Vivaldi is an fork of FF (good to know), but it says also that it is still in beta and not good for AI generatet content.
So far Andi is still the best

@stardepp, another nice AI search (only search, no resume), Metaphor, fast and simple
https://metaphor.systems/search?q=%s
-
@Catweazle I have added to the collection:
-
A search using this link:
https://books.google.com/talktobooks/
will come up with brief quote from books.
Update:
Talk to Books was an experiment in using a neural language model to search through a large collection of books. Launched in 2018, it delighted millions of users who found that you really could converse with books in a way never imagined.
The experiment proved the effectiveness of language models (sometimes called semantic matching or semantic retrieval models), and they went on to drive features inside such products as Google Shopping, Maps, Gmail, Hangouts, and others.
As with all experiments that eventually reach a conclusion, Talk To Books has taught us all it has to teach and will be closing down effective immediately.
Thanks for visiting Talk to Books! We hope you enjoyed it.
If you're looking for a new kind of AI experience, we suggest checking out bard.google.com. You'll find that Bard knows a lot about books!
Ya well... what else can be said?

Neeva search engine ceases operation:
-
@stardepp, I had serious doubts from the beginning as you can see in the threads announcing Neeva.
-
Snowflake acquires Neeva to accelerate search in the data cloud through generative AI
-
A very exciting post on how to optimize your website to be found on Google, in German but translated subtitles are available.
-
help to add service search correctly
vk.com/video -
@klov3244 Just look at the resulting URL:
Ergo:

i've been using
searX
, in POST-mode, in my various browsers for years. over that period i've needed to change Instances several times, depending on server reliability, availability & longevity. for the past several months, no matter which Instance i've tried, & irrespective too of whethersearX
[project now unsupported] orsearXNG
, and furthermore regardless of however i might finesse my enabled search engines list within its Settings, the results have been... pretty crappy!finally sick of it, a few days ago i experimentally reverted to a s/e i abandoned several years back,
startpage
, when they went over to the dark side. even once they later returned to unicorns & rose petals, i still didn't return to it, coz i dislike its ui [most especially the silly lack of infinite scroll]. however, the serious decline insearXNG
results-quality for me has forced my hand, so i'll just have to live with the poor ui, if the results-quality is good... aaaaaaaaand so far, that's been great; a real breath of fresh air.the only other niggle with it was the distasteful sponsored links at the top. no matter... thanks to
uBO
, they're now nuked & i no longer see them. so, whilst it's a pity [& i feel like a bit of a foss-traitor] to have had to abandonsearXNG
, so farstartpage
[in POST-mode] seems to be doing well for me. -
@ybjrepnfr, try with Whoogle, instead of Startpage, Whoogle, like Startpage, use the Google engine, but without the Google crap, like Startpage has, and it's OpenSource with several public instances (list at the bottom of the GitHub page)
https://whoogle.io/search?q=%s
(@stardepp, correct it in your list to the new official search, Whoogle.net not longer exist, the domain is now Whoogle.io)
