Small improvements to the clock and popout video – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1867.3

@bib_vivaldi Kalarm is pointless as it does not work on Windows. You can keep it.
-
@Pesala said:
pointless (…) You can keep it.
Oh, now even you? I know that @bib_vivaldi gets annoying, but you can just ignore them if logic doesn't help.
(As I can see logic doesn't help, but I'll try it. Only once.)
@bib_vivaldi Did you realise that around you are people with different opinions than you? Vivaldi is to have many useless features, because every user selects their own features that are/are not useless for them. What's your most favourite feature? I guess it's something that a browser doesn't need… something useless… unless it wants to be a good browser for users that want exactly this feature (and the others don't (usually) complain that it's useless). -
This snapshot is fast! and when i say fast is faster than other browser i use... Vivaldi Team if you manage to keep it up i will switch for life!!!!!!!!
-
@peefy : another bug report:
the "no blocking"feature does not work for this site too

I'm getting some freezes with this build. It's not consistent, and I see nothing in the Crashpad/Reports folder. I can only close it in ProceXP, which I use as a better Task Manager. Most of the time seems to occur when I close a tab (I almost exclusively do that through gestures, so that might be related). After a while the Vivaldi window goes black, like the GPU driver fails, yet in Event Viewer, Reliability History etc. there's no such thing happening, no instability of any sort.
-
latest version takes like 5 minutes to launch on macOS Version 10.13.6 (Build 17G12034). Ended up downgraded to previous snapshot and launches fine.
-
As already mentioned, I also experience some random freezes. I can't relate them to anything, but Vivaldi just stops responding. If I leave it, it might work after a minute or two, otherwise I have to kill the process. W10 x64 if it matters.
-
@fabien I have a same experience on MacOS 11.13.6. Lucky for me, it's just a testing machine.
-
@pesala: This is a great idea! I didn't think of this use case.
I have done a few things:
- The address bar is merged with the top bar in vivaldi
- The task bar is on autohide (now, thanks to your suggestion)
Advantage is that I get a few more pixels (taskbar height - status bar of vivaldi height) width added to my screen. All these days, I had the taskbar in there only for the time and date.
So, that brings me to the feature request: Can you please add a date (customizable) to the clock? Or can I mod it now, somehow?

-
@folgore101: dove si trova questo orologio ?
-
@carlonike On the status bar in the Snapshot only.
If you do not see it in the Snapshot, reset the status bar to its default (Settings, Appearance).
-
@carlonike Hi, please write in English in this section. For Italian there is this section: https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/25/italiano-italian
Follow the instructions that gave you @Pesala that they're perfect.

@Gwen-Dragon
With this latest snapshot I had this on first [several] opening[s] after install.So, I thought I'd open from the command line to see if there were any clues in the output, but V opened fine. It has since behaved on normal closing/opening without crashing.
This is on my Ubuntu 18.04 box.
It worked fine for the snapshot after the one where it was first mentioned.
So, sorry, no clues about how to reproduce, but it might still be lurking as a bug
-
@t0yz Does Vivaldi unfreeze if you kill the vivaldi.exe-process which has the command '--type=gpu-process' attached?
For me it does. These freezes seem to be related to media content, but couldn't yet close in on more specifics. (Win10 x64 1909) -
@sid6dot7 When I tried to open the Vivaldi task manager it did not open. Maybe I did not wait long enough. Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close Vivaldi from the Windows task manager soon solve the problem.
-
@Pesala Yeah, I meant windows' task manager. As my taskbar isn't hidden, using its context menu to get to the task manager always worked fine.

You can also open Windows Task Manager directly using
Ctrl+Shift+Esc
. A very handy shortcut, that one. -
@sid6dot7 I'll give it a shot when it happens next time and report back.
yes, it does seem to be related to media tabs. -
[BUG, OR FEATURE?] can't change spell check dictionary language, in private mode
In normal mode (I mean, not private), you can install many different dictionaries and tell Vivaldi which language you want Vivaldi to use, during the spell check (might be just one of them).But, when you're in private mode, you can't select which dictionary to use, o enable them all, even if the setting is available in the right click menu.
What should be the normal behaviour:
a) to be able to switch between languages (as it seems, as there is the option in the menu)
b) to be unable to do it (as it is now)Thank you,
