      Good day,
I watch very often the video from CT24. PiP cannot be used with this video. There is a way to use PiP function to "unsupported" videos.
I tried several extensions. But they don't work. Only a black or white rectangle is displayed.

      Thank you

@Kevinar This actually seem a bug, however you can try to force it with this.
        However worth to be reported.

Here (2.11.1811.28) I see the pip button, but when I click play, I can't press it as is vanished.

And on 2.12.1856.3 (latest snapshot) I don't see the PIP button at all.

The extension above should help with this bug.
Then, the PIP should work correctly.
If I doesn't some codec/GPU acceleration may be the issue.
Worth also checking your extensions and try to disable all of them keeping only the one for the PIP button.

@Gwen-Dragon But why it's shown on 2.11 and not on 2.12?
Due some changes about how the feature works?

@Gwen-Dragon Unsure. PIP button works (don't vanish) on most "standard sites" like youtube but do that on CT24. And on latest snapshot simply don't appear - but could be due their player. Can't be sure of that. However, PIP extensions will make work it.

Thank you for your advices. I installed PiP extension and I tried to turn off all extensions, but without effect. I saw only black/white window in PiP (see attachment). I tried deactivated Picture-In-Picture Button On Videos in Setting, but without effect too.

                @Kevinar
But you see the player/video when you aren't in PIP mode?
                What's your current vivaldi version?
Are you on windows N edition?
                Which windows version?

                Other things you could try:

                • Try the site with private window (ctrl+shift+N) enabling the PIP extension there.
                • Disable HW acceleration for webpages (vivaldi settings)
                • Purge cookies for the site; enable 3rd party cookies (which is probably unrelated, but who knows).
                • Standalone Vivaldi. Use snapshot if you are on stable or viceversa.

I can view the live stream on https://ct24.ceskatelevize.cz/#live using Picture-in-Picture:
                    9ad71f84-f541-48e6-bc77-5873e430db56-image.png

I do, however, not have Vivaldi's PiP button on that stream. Instead I right-clicked the video and chose Inspect, then wrote this in the console: document.querySelector("#video").requestPictureInPicture().

However, launching the command via console or using the extension launch the PIP window.

I haven't tried using an extension, so I can't say if that works also for me.

I tried PiP in my notebook (Lenovo ThinkPad E590: Intel Core i7-8565U, 8 GB RAM, UHD Graphics 620 + AMD Radeon RX550 - for Radeon I do not have install driver) and everything works fine (extensions and using the console).

On my computer (AMD PhenomII 940BE, 6 GB RAM, nVidia GeForce GTX950) there are still problems.

                          I tried:

                          • clear all cache
                          • reinstall browser
                          • uninstall using Revo Uninstaller, using Ccleaner, "clean" install browser
                          • disable / enable Hardware acceleration

                          but problem remains.

On both devices I have installed Vivaldi Snapshot 2.12.1856.3 x64, Windows 10 v1909

EDIT: Password synchronization does not work after a clean installation. Settings / bookmarks synced.

I was looking for help on the internet and I found this thread (Reddit).
                            This advice solved my problem:
"I got it working using the Picture-in-Picture Extension (by Google) .Found something on the brave forums that said to disable the automatic hiding of the windows taskbar (with the extension running). Worked. Enabling it again afterwards works fine (sometimes)."

I don't understand the link between hiding taskbar and PiP in the browser.

It is a chromium bug. Have to be fixed on their side.
Can confirm this behaviour. Same in on Win10 1809.

Have you reported the issue through the official Vivaldi bug submission form?

The reason I ask is because e.g. the latest snapshot build has website specific fixes for PiP so obviously this is something they are currently working on.

In my case, the HTML5 video element from Disney + had this property: disablepictureinpicture. Deleting it in the Developer Tools using the inspector, helped me getting the PIP mode able to work.
