Vivaldi 2.11 improves Pop-out video
-
I'm getting version 2.10 from the download button. Was the new version removed?
-
It has been mentioned already but the Pop Out Video feature really should have a Disable option. For many users the whole PIP already is a big annoyance but now it is (kinda) forced upon us. Also, the button is really distracting. For instance on Reddit, all the small video preview windows (except the YouTube ones) are having that button now
-
I've to admit, this update is a bit disappointing.
Added a PIP button, cool, but you can't disable the PIP button;
And the PIP feature itself wasn't improved at all (no volume controls or time seekers, can't make it bigger than a limit, etc).
The fixed bugs otherwise, those are nice (especially the love DevTools is getting right now). -
@lonm: but they could have disabled it initially, or make it part of "vivaldi://experiments" list until it's ready to go.

@gwen-dragon: Okay, so it is there. I downloaded from https://downloads.vivaldi.com/stable/Vivaldi.2.11.1811.33.dmg

I am thrilled...again
a new and useful feature in Vivaldi..
...Pop-out video...
...really works on many websites with videos...many thanks to the Vivaldi team
If you browse more then you sleep

Open Discord webpage, Pop-Out Video icon displays on spinning logo. Open Twitter, Pop-Out Video icon displays over gifs. Use Vivaldi as file explorer to open video not on a webpage, Pop-Out Video icon displays.
Seriously wondering why a toggle option wasn't at least considered upon first releasing this. It should go hand-in-hand, not be an afterthought.

Can we ask for more work on the GUI? The right side of the toolbar still can't be customized with drag and drop.

You can use that one that you downloaded from this URL earlier but you would need to remove the quarantine attribute because it is signed but not notarised and modern versions of macOS require both to allow it to launch.
P.S. I have removed that file now and replaced it with something else because for the time being we do not want people downloading it this way. It is just more confusing, since it will not launch without the quarantine attribute removed.

Great work guys. Thanks much.

Not the best position for the new video popup button. On embedded YouTube videos it goes right underneath the linked title of the video.

the idea is awesome but the realisation is terrible :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes: :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes: :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes:
the bug fixes are super, a lot of functioning has been corrected but that strange button in the middle of videos is really a punch in the eye :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_closed_eyes:

getting a white screen with only audio while using picture-in-picture (Ubuntu 18.04)

@gwen-dragon: thanks

It's nice to see your work in getting some controls overlaid onto the P-in-P window (THANK YOU!), but I'm a bit disappointed that the P-in-P window still does not include a video position slider or a volume control at the bottom of the window.
As a user, I most commonly pop out video when I want to focus on a different window or tab while watching a single (non-playlisted) video. Because of that, I am more likely than not to want to back the video up to catch something that caught my attention. Or to adjust the volume of the playback while watching. This all used to be possible until something changed recently in the Chromium base. Can't wait for it to change BACK.

Vivaldi update different very cool. My linux
Thanks

So far so good. I had to make a few changes to my status bar mod, but on the bright side, the annoying (needs updating) in the panels header is gone. The bottom part of the bookmarks panel also doesn't open on it's own anymore.
Thanks

All kinds of video problems now. Won't play. Brave has no problem with them.

Quite a healthy and above-average number of fixes!
Assuming the problem isn't just me (one or two others did mention it, I think), I'm hoping that the new 2.10 issue where the previous session isn't always there upon starting the browser, is fixed. Fortunately, it's only a sporadic issue.

So far, so good. Thanks once more!
