или вы что дискриминируете людей по языку
There is no discrimination. Separation by language helps moderators and users quickly understand issues that arise for users.

Hmm... Interesting! Please make a bugreport (you may make it in russian). Maybe developers will come up with a solution to avoid such bugs in future.

Yes, one bugreport about one problem. Sorry

If you want to discuss about all problems please go to local forum (I gave you link several messages earlier)

"Local forums" is upper block at this forum and russian block is the first block in this section

I praise you for the user agent decision. It's very unexpected, but I like the idea. User agent have been abused for a long time. I understand back in the day when there was no other way to discover the capabilities of browser it was useful, but nowaday js allow to detect capabilities and UA is not needed. It's sad that a lot of designer are abusing it to block certain player/browser.
With Vivaldi going forward with this, in long term if all small player start doing this, the UA will become even less relevant. Web designer will be forced the check the capabilities of a browser and the UA check will die. This will be a good thing for everyone.
Kudos for vivaldi to take a stance that help the user instead of their stats. Vivaldi is going forward as always, thanks for this nice browser guys, I love you.

@KlausDevWalker Vote for Option to Autohide Tab Bar / UI
-
It took some time to notice because it's so fast, but occasionally upon closing this build I see the "Aw, snap" screen for an instant before it closes. This is on Win10. Anyone else seeing that?
Most times, it's just fine upon starting up again in that previously-open tabs are re-opened, but a couple times I've seen it come back with none. Fortunately, in those cases, you can go to the Window sidebar area to get them back (they launch in a new window).
-
@rseiler I haven't had that, but I have had the dead bird.
-
After this update, I could not open Vivaldi. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling.
I also have symantec endpoint. In the end I found that I can open it by turning on Windows 8 Compatibility mode.
Its really annoying becuase I have to do this everytime I start vivaldi but at least I can use it again...
Freaking Symantec!! -
@Ayespy I think the two issues are unrelated. I have lost all my tabs after restarting Vivaldi, but only in older versions (so far). As for the dead bird sometimes appearing for a split-second when closing, I've only started seeing that on this latest version of Vivaldi. I assumed it was related to having Norton / Symantec installed and using the
--disable-features=RendererCodeIntegrity
workaround (in Chrome, the RendererCodeIntegrity incompatibility with Symantec/Norton appears as "Aw Snap" in tabs). But maybe it's unrelated, I'm not sure. -
@ivanrivas39c Try reporting it at https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive, if enough of us do this maybe they'll be more inclined to do a permanent fix. Also cool workaround, I'm glad that's working for you! Some other workaround options are also available at https://help.vivaldi.com/article/symantec-endpoint-protection-workaround/.
-
@ukanuk I'm sure they are unrelated.
-
@Ayespy Yes, definitely unrelated. I wouldn't let 3rd-party AV anywhere near this system, so I've never used that switch.

-
@rseiler Isn't Windows Defender also created by a third party?
-
@Pesala It was back in 2004 or so. MS acquired 10+years ago another AV (Giant Antispyware) it was rewritten in C++ in-house and it's a totally different beast now from what it was back then. Can be considered a total MS product.
-
@kswiatly_har I almost gave up on Vivaldi, then happened across your mention of this flag to make it work with Symantec. Even if it's SEP's fault - it might be good to be proactive about this serious, fatal and silent error.
-
I remember that some time ago, Windows Defender had a problem similar to Symantec with Vivaldi, but this was quickly resolved by MS in a matter of a few days.
-
@dag42 I'd say the Vivaldi devs are being very proactive. I opened a bug report with them when this first started happening, and they've been responsive and asked for my help collecting additional debug logs to help figure out the issue with Symantec. The only thing I could maybe hope is if they added Norton / SEP as one of their test cases before future releases, since this is at least the second time it's happened. But even if they don't, I'm still satisfied with what Vivaldi devs have been doing. They can't possibly test every other software, and Norton/SEP should give SOME notification to their users when they block software like this. I think that's just about the most B.S. thing of all about this, that Norton silently blocks this without ever telling the user about it anywhere in their interface! They have a history section to see what it's blocked, and Vivaldi doesn't appear anywhere in those logs. Talk about not very user friendly.
