Whats App for Windows no longer works on Vivaldi latest Version
-
The Subject Line says it all.
I am a big WhatsApp user - but I access it on the web via Vivaldi.
The latest Vivaldi version killed that wonderful app.
When you hit the Whats App Link, its says APP only available on Chrome 36+ (and compatible browsers.
But it doesn't work any longer on Vivaldi.
Please - help. I am desperate to get back to using this!
I have Windows 7 Pro. (Dont tell me about Windows 10 options)
Thanks
Robert

For issues with websites (like WhatsApp) blocking based on User Agent. You can often work around the issue like so

@RobertCohen27
Just to get this right, this issue is whatsapps fault as they do browser sniffing and - again - screwed this up by not detecting Vivaldi correctly.Just bypass this with a user agent switcher, you can get them via the chrome webstore. Install one of them, click the extension icon and select that vivaldi should cloak itself as chrome --> done.
You maybe need to reload whatsapp afterwards.https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/user agent switcher?hl=en-GB

5 lines below in the same forum there are sufficient answers and solutions for that
-web.whatsapp.com can no longer be accessed?!
-BUG: WhatsApp Web support is gone in 2.5.1525.40 (Stable channel) (32-bit)
-can't open web whatsapp todayAlso, what does the whatsapp message say? : "To use Whatsapp update Chrome or use Firefox, Edge or Opera" Now who killed what? They won't support Vivaldi, Yandex ,Maxthon as well, (when they will be updated to Chromium 74) because they are lazy/ not getting paid for doing so/ being advertised in a sidebar like in Opera, not the opposite.

Windows 10 - Vivaldi 64 - 2.5.1525.40

For me Whatsapp web always worked but with the latest Vivaldi update of today it doesn't work anymore
Same screen of @versuri -
"User-Agent Switcher for Chrome" doesn't bring back WhatsApp. Don't know why. . .
Go to Chrome Store and download "User-Agent Switcher" (esolutions). It works - I just downloaded it and installed.
It works perfectly!

This does not work for web panels, I'm waiting for a new Vivaldi release to close this issue.

@RobertCohen27 You mean the page web.whatsapp.com does not work in Vivaldi?
Whatsapp detects wrong browsers.Solution as described in:
@Gwen-Dragon said in web.whatsapp.com can no longer be accessed?!:@joao-rossa I use extension User-Agent Switcher for Chrome to change UA and added
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/73.0.3683.103 Safari/537.36
in Spoof List for domain web.whatsapp.com.Open Whatsapp Web page in the tab, authorize in phone by QR code, WHatsAPp Web is opened, then add the tab to webpanel.
Works for me in 2.5.1525.4 won Win 10 x64. I just tested in ½h ago.Tried this. Still works on a normal tab, but when added to the sidebar, it still asks for Chrome.

Sorry for the trouble, the team is looking into this issue. In the meantime please try this workaround that we share here: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/user-agent-spoofing/
It won't work on the web panel unfortunately. Thank you for being patient with us.Also this topic is being discussed in so many topics that I'm closing this one and we'll update you once the fix is out here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/37195/vivaldi-2-5-breaks-whatsapp-web

@gaelle That's probably the most straightforward and still customizable extension for switching the user agent I have seen so far. Vivaldi help articles ftw.
