Play audio in background
-
Is that possible to implement on Android? I think it would be a handy feature especially if you could make it site specific. It's just an idea I wanted to throw out there.
-
yes, please. This feature is essential.
-
or add the "play music in background" feature
-
I found a post about this over a year ago, but I haven't seen much on it since. Pretty much what the title says, I use the the browser to play videos and then listen to them with the screen off (namely in my pocket where an on screen will take inputs). In fact this is the feature that prevents me from using vivaldi, and going back to brave.
Anyone else also missing this? I know there are work arounds involving other apps. But why download a series of apps - or even one - when I can use the browser app already installed perfectly?
-
@tntori yes I agree I hope they add this feature !!
-
Background video playback would be useful
-
I just use Brave so that YouTube plays in the background. I hope this feature is added to Vivaldi.
-
@ronee I use YouTube vanced. The same effect but without any ad, even by blogger.
-
Please add background play feature in vivaldi, like Brave browser (which is in setting under feature name background video playback, in Android app)
-
@jesus2099 Brave on Android supports background so I don't see why not Vivaldi
-
I'd love to have this as well. I play a lot of music through Youtube on the app and it would be nice to use my phone without the music stopping.
-
I have this feature in Firefox and I love it. I also have video resume in Firefox.
Please add it to Vivaldi
-
@petcuandrei I run Sync on my Android and all my stuff is on Vivaldi. But it's useless for listening to audio in the background. Which is Why BRAVE Browser ROCKS!!!
-
@bk2020 I uninstalled Brave. Not a fan of the people who build or fund it. Vivaldi is my go to Chromium based browser.
-
@petcuandrei Vivaldi for me is useless on Android 11.
I like to listen to audio whilst driving or navigating in Google Maps. My primary goto is Brave who does this.
My main PC at home uses Vivaldi. -
The topic probably already was, but is it possible to add such an option that the browser can play video and music in background. It works very well in Bromite or Firefox (without changing the page view to a computer view).

@jesus2099
On Android, Firefox and Brave play youtube video in the background. -
I am talking about vivaldi android. Last update of brave browser severely messed it up so I switched to Vivaldi, now, I do often play videos in the background and surf the internet on my android phone. But I am not sure how to do that on Vivaldi on Android. Any help would be appreciated.
I really hope vivaldi has this feature because it was on the official forum about 3 years ago.
