Provide "presentation mode"

Provide a quick-to-use presentation mode. A presentation mode is similar to "fullscreen + hideUI".

There is an old thread about it (https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/22435/presentation-mode-again) but I didn't find it under "feature requests".

I sometimes need a quick-to-switch presentation mode. In the current Vivaldi, these are the problems:

1. ⌘F10 removes all UI elements ("toggle UI"), except for the title bar, even in the fullscreen mode.
2. There is no "toggle UI" item in the main menu.
3. It's always a two-step action to go to the presentation mode: fullscreen + toggleUI

I discussed some of the problems in the thread referenced above, but I summarize them here:

1. The title bar will be hidden in the fullscreen mode if you use the "Use Native Window" option in the Settings, but it's ugly in the non-fullscreen situation.
2. The function key is hard to press on Mac keyboards, especially because you need to press "fn" key to activate the function keys and the "fn" key is located at different places between the laptop and desktop keyboards!
3. Shortcuts are hard to remember for features you don't use daily.
4. You need to switch to the presentation mode quickly during your lecture or presentation! and when you use other applications like Acrobat Reader, image viewer, PowerPoint, etc., you are really confused.

The best way is to provide it in the "View" menu.

• Fullscreen F11
• Hide UI Ctrl-F11

That doesn't happen to me! F11 hides the current Vivaldi window to the left-hand edge of the screen! I don't know what it means.

Ctrl-F11 or Command-F11 does nothing.

Edit: I spoke too soon. Sorry. It's F10 and ⌘F10 on macOS. Pressing these two shortcut keys takes me to the full-screen UI-less mode. That is the state (fullscreen + UI-less) I want, as you guessed correctly.

But, (in hindsight I wasn't clear above) what I really need is a menu item "presentation mode". I'm terrible at remembering shortcut keys and it's painful to press function keys on a macbook.

The "presentation mode" is usually available in the "View" menu under the name of "full screen" or "presentation" and the shortcut for it is different from application to application. It's ⌘L on Acrobat Reader and ⌘P on Skim, for example. How can one possibly remember these? That's why shortcut keys cannot be relied on.

(Solution 3: app mode...a different solution)
This is just extra credit. You can start Vivaldi from the command line with the --app option, which removes menus, panels, toolbars, etc.

That's an interesting option. Thank you. That would be useful in some other occasions.

I'm needing this feature even more than before.

On Google Chrome, one mouse click puts the current "webpage" full-screen. No tabbar, no menu, no address bar, no status bar, no bookmark bar, nothing. Only the current webpage occupies the entire screen.

This is ideal, not only for a presentation, but also for serious editing on a small screen.

I'm currently working from home on a 13-inch macbook and using an online, collaborative text editor (overleaf.com). Because I'm struggling with the small text areas on the screen, the UI-less full screen mode helps a lot.

@ryofurue Right-click Fullscreen is what you are looking for. Exit fullscreen is there when in Fullscreen mode.

I assigned GestureUp, GestureDown to Fullscreen Mode in Settings, Mouse, but if you tend to forget stuff, the context menu is easier. I use F11 as it is common for fullscreen mode on Windows programs.

Now, this feature can be implemented with Menu Customization and Command Chain!

1. Create a command chain, say, "Presentation Mode". What it does is "full screen" + "toggle UI".

2. In the Menu Customization setting, add this command chain to the "View" menu.

You are done!

(By the way, the "correct" name for the command chain is "Toggle Presentation Mode" because it really acts as a toggle.)
