Set Web Panels Context (Regular or Private) Independently of Parent Window
-
It will likely take some work, but it would be amazing if we were able to set Web Panels browsing mode independently of the parent window context, opening private panels in regular windows, and regular panels in private ones.
It would be 3 options setting for each panel: Default (use the same browsing mode of current parent window), Private, or Regular (or Public? I'm not sure about the naming convention there).
Why the request?
Panels are a great way to access extensions settings. Not all extensions let its settings to be accessed from private windows, though, forcing the user to cycle back to a regular window just to access them.
Also, I can see the use of performing a quick private search from a panel docked to a regular window. You'd be making the day of all the researchers using Vivaldi out there.
P.S.: There's a similar request here: "Option to set public context for web panels in private windows"
It's different in that it only suggests opening regular panels in private windows. -
@nihal As Ayespy said in Private Tabs, it is in developer consciousness, but extremely complex.

@Pesala Oh, I searched for panels + private, so I missed that thread. Thanks for the heads up!
Yeah, I can only imagine the complexity. It's nice to know it has been considered, hopefully the work being currently done in Vivaldi already takes a future implementation of it into consideration, decreasing the number of rewrites needed to someday make it real.
