Vivaldi 2.3 RC 1 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1440.30

Search Suggestions Selected from Search Field Dropdown Are Not Populated In Search Engine
Steps to reproduce:
- In Settings\Search, Enable Show Search Field in Address Bar
- Enable Search Suggestions in Search Field
- Using the Search Field, begin typing a search string
- Use keyboard to scroll down in the search suggestions and select a longer search suggestion
(For example, I entered "NASA Gemini", then used keyboard to scroll down to "NASA Gemini Program" - Press Enter key to send selected search to the search engine
- Note that the text in the search engine's search field is only the texted entered on the keyboard, not the full text selected from the suggestions dropdown.
PLEASE NOTE: This does not occur if the mouse\touchpad is used to select the search suggestion.
Submitted as VB-48886

@x-15a2 Yes, same here. Thought it was an issue on my end
PLEASE NOTE: This does not occur if the mouse\touchpad is used to select the search suggestion.
Nice, I didn't notice that. That's good to know.

@Rexfahrer Thanks, i opened a new "VB-48889 - When "Floating Panel" is selected, it is no longer possible to drag tabs into the Bookmarks and Notes Panel", i do not want the "VB-48029 - Drag in floating panels doesn’t work for bookmarks and notes" to be referred to anything else.

@mrbluesky: Thanks for confirming what I reported. I have a "blank" user profile that I always test in, but it's good to know that others see the same symptoms.
Also, it works better for me in Linux where the search engine is populated correctly even though the search field is truncated.
Great user name @MrBlueSky! It's a name that's "Out Of The Blue"!

@ruario: Windows, back to 2.3.1420.4 everything is working and the bookmarks are back. updating to a later shnapshot the bookmarks are gone.

VB-44539 is still failing.
Perhaps it was never actually fixed? (I might be the only one who cares about it.)
The bug was reported on 1309.37 [Chromium 69]
The extensions described by the bug worked OK in 7 snapshots (1322.4 through 1350.4) [Chromium 70 based]
Failures appeared again after 1360.4 which moved to Chromium 71.
Failures continued for 16 snapshots from 1360.4 through 1440.3 [Chromium 72]One might be tempted to suggest the source of the bug is in Chromium. However, the extensions work in the latest version Chrome, 72.0.3626.81, but NOT in Vivaldi, also currently Chromium 72.

@lonm: It seems that I can open a private window immediately after starting a new session, but after using the (non-private) browser for a while I am unable to start a new private window.
I'm also frequently seeing the issue where I sometimes can't right click on tabs to move them to a new window.
As per VB-48546, windows that fail to load usually complain in the console about something to do with the user agent.
Additional notes: This is with confirm-to-close on or off, and occurs even with no browser mods / extensions (a fresh profile).

@Folgore101 I don't do snapshots (just betas), but I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Around a year ago, it was very bad. Then it was fixed for quite awhile before it came back. I run into it a lot. When I load the same pages in Firefox 52, the problem does not occur.

Here a also all bookmarks unvisible. After downgrade to 1420 the bookmarks are visible again!
If possible I would like to examine that set of bookmarks. We have been unable to reproduce this problem internally. Right now we do not know if it is the bookmark content or something else that trigger this issue on some setups.
