@ybjrepnfr IIRC downgrades are not recommended, so I assume it also not safe to copy profile from the latest Vivaldi version to the older one.

@Stardust @ybjrepnfr Understandable. I copied mine from stable to snapshot to flatpak with no detected issues, but there are definitely some risks to it, and at some point it may be good for me to take the time to set up a fresh copy. I'll edit my recommendation to note the risk, in case anyone else stumbles across it

So I've been using the flatpak for about a week now and I got to say, the experience has been exactly as I hoped it be. Been waiting for this ever since I got my Steamdeck.

Thank you for providing the Flatpak version. I was searching for where to report issues related to the Flatpak version when I realized that this is very fresh
Where would be the best place to complain that I cannot setup Vivaldi in a Flatpak as the default browser? In the Vivaldi settings it thinks that it is the default browser but the setting is not effective. In Gnome (45) in Settings>Default Apps (at the bottom)>Web I cannot see "Vivaldi" but I see the other browsers I have installed, native or Flatpaks.P.S. Thank you for the effort!

Please report issue to Vivaldi bug tracker. Once that is done, share the bug number (beginning with VB-) you got by bug report mail. Thanks for helping us making Vivaldi better.

I was able to set Vivaldi as default with the following command in a terminal:xdg-settings set default-web-browser com.vivaldi.Vivaldi.desktop -

Yes, such works, but Flatpak installer should do this.
Fiddling with xdg-settings is not for everyone, i think that flatpak packages should create less work for users. -
Did vivaldi adhere to the flatpak packaging form? I've been so long without coming here that I'm lost

It's technically unverified but it's made by Vivaldi employees and it works great!

@XLN Thanks for clarifying, the last time I read about it was just a possibility and today it is already maintained. Very good to be back (but I'm lost with so much new functionality haha).

Why exactly isn't the Flatpak verified?
For the longest time, I avoided installing it because it wasn't verified. However, today I noticed at the bottom of the Flatpak listing that it’s actually by Vivaldi. So now I'm wondering—why isn't it verified?

I get that now, but my question is: why isn't it official if it's made by Vivaldi? Whether it's done by one Vivaldi team member or an entire group, it's still technically from Vivaldi. So why not certify it and give users the confidence that it's safe to install?
