My open tabs all gone.

Almost 300 tabs gone... this is why I request save and open tab stacks feature... dang too late.
Vivaldi show sign of error for a while (like must press space bar for combo box to pop up, randomly select focus tab instead focus on last focus tab, pop up when finish download not show as before) but I trust too much of top left little bin; after I shutdown my PC normally without any error of Vivaldi or any sign of it but when I open Vivaldi again it's greet me with nice clean tab bar...
I rush to our little trash bin and still see all tab I used in sub menu "Window close" but this time I can't just open it all as new window !? ... what's a choice I have ... so I reopen it one by one then the worst thing happen... Vivaldi crash and when I reopen it our little trash bin only has those tab I reopen before it crash ... the rest is gone.
I try to salvage them from opened history and ... it hopeless, many tab is reference for coding(c, .net and some programming theory I stack them up each catalog) I can't remember what's title or when is the last time I open it ( I mostly reopen it when it stuck on some problem when coding) ... so mostly I can salvage is musics on youtube I listen used to listen while coding.
I'm not going to ask Vivaldi developers to make it bug less since it's impossible but could Vivaldi has some guarantee auto recover last open tab on crash at less 3 back up to minimize damage when first recovery and second recovery fail.
By the way, Vivadi just crash one more time while I typing on this topic... for the goddess Aqua's sake.
Mod Edit: Animations hidden. No need for the melodrama.

@richter03 If you open a lot of tabs, I suggest saving tabs as a session or sessions.
-
@richter03 I don't know, but i presume/hope, that you might be able to innovate something like my Linux solution, in your Windoze system:

...as a consequence of which, if ever my V were to suffer a catastrophe like you describe, the very worst i'd face would be to lose my last 5' of tabs [which would be easy to recreate from History]. All the others would be fast-recoverable from (recent pic a bit earlier tonight)

Hi Pesala,
Thanks for suggestion but its browser error, I might save some session as backup but how do I know when this going to happen again ? do I need to daily save session ?Crashing is one thing but fail to recovery after crash is very very bad and it's not a first time Vivaldi fail to recovery after crash but I keep my hope for it will be fixed soon ... I always hope for it since Vivaldi public open download til today but this give me one more reason to move Vivaldi to secondary browser.
I maybe love many feature I won't be found elsewhere of Vivaldi but if I have to get back to Windows ME era again when I think I should wait for Vivaldi stable as Window XP before I use it as primary browser.
By the way, this is my flag setting for Vivaldi 2.1.1337.51 (Stable channel) (32-bit)
--vivaldi-standalone --flag-switches-begin --autoplay-policy=no-user-gesture-required --disable-software-rasterizer --enable-devtools-experiments --enable-fast-unload --enable-gpu-appcontainer --enable-gpu-rasterization --enable-navigation-tracing --disable-oop-rasterization --site-per-process --enable-zero-copy --gpu-rasterization-msaa-sample-count=4 --ignore-gpu-blacklist --ignore-previews-blacklist --enable-lcd-text --new-tab-button-position=trailing --num-raster-threads=4 --enable-features=AutomaticTabDiscarding,BlockTabUnders,DrawOcclusion,ExpensiveBackgroundTimerThrottling,ExperimentalProductivityFeatures,HighDynamicRange,MemoryCoordinator,NewEncodeCpuLoadEstimator,PageAlmostIdle,V8Orinoco,VizDisplayCompositor,VizHitTestDrawQuad --disable-features=BloatedRendererDetection,ClientLoFi,LazyImageLoading,NewStyleNotifications --flag-switches-end

It looks like the suspension on this truck was no good or maybe it was the driver's fault for going too fast around a corner?
When I am working on a project, I save a session even for three tabs to avoid having to reopening them and rearrange the tiles every day. I don't care about losing YouTube tabs, and almost never experience crashes anyway because I never open more that 10 tabs, except for testing purposes.
I think it is reasonable to save a window with 25 tabs as a session, then close it until it is needed, before opening yet more tabs. I would not expect anyone to save sessions every 10 minutes, but at least when a lot of tabs are needed for a project they should save the session from time to time.
As you noted, one cannot expect software to be completely bug free, not even the Stable channel, and if you keep on over-loading it, sooner or later it will crash.
One has to be pragmatic. If there is even a 1% chance of the browser crashing, it makes sense to save one's work now and then.

@Pesala : Picture hidden. No need for the melodrama.
A complain user much better then silence user because they would just leave without give feedback some information why they leave, unless you prefer those silence user because they give you less work and headache.
@Steffie
Very nice work, maybe you could tell me where and which files contain tabs data in tab bar, I might be able to do some auto backup like you did but I maybe keep it at 7 slot for a week. -

where and which files contain tabs data
Um, well, i already did show you, pictorially, in one of my links. Here's a zoom-in of the key aspect:

Windows users can use FreeFileSync to backup or sync a Vivaldi user folder.
-
I frequently bookmark all tabs ( I don't like saving them as session because it doesn't show me what the session contains). And once a day I backup my user folder of Vivaldi.
-
Alternatives are addons: Session Buddy or Toby for Chrome

Alternatives are addons: Session Buddy
I used SB meticulously for years in all my chromium-based browsers, but wrt V specifically i eventually replaced it with what i already described. There were at least two times that V lost my tabs after a crash when i subsequently discovered SB had also let me down by unhelpfully not having saved my session for many days prior to the crash [ie, in total contravention of my settings].
The beauty of using a non-V solution for auto-saving my V tabs regularly is self-evident; it's independent of V, hence my tabs always remain safe [aka, available for emergency recovery if ever needed] irrespective of whatever catastrophe V might experience. That said, for me, no such [tab-loss] event has happened for quite a long while. Oh nooooo, why did i say that?

@Steffie
Maybe because it's Windows version or not snapshot version so they do thing difference, I don't found folders in your picture (I use to mess around it before I brought SSD, create a symbolic link from temp folder to ramdisk) but same name files, they have been open with lock state, I think they might be streaming data directly to disk, "Last Session" and "Last Tabs" might be the right one for [Windows.Stable] version.I stop work around it after I can't backup extensions by backup files in "\Default", I lose them all every time I reinstall Windows, I need to download every extension again after install but at less after reinstall those extension again, their data and config can be restore. After try for a while I just use it as it be in the end.

@richter03 This is my Win10 V path; yours should be similar afaik:
C:\Users\Steffie\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default
-
@Steffie
I found\Crashpad
,CrashpadMetrics-active.pma
andCrashpadMetrics.pma
there, nothing more then those; only place I found\Default
is...\Vivaldi\User Data\Default
. -
Lucky I found it. These are my logic steps so don't do anything exceptional things then you should get jack pot:
- First, when your Vivaldi suddenly closed and CAN NOT REOPEN CLOSE STACK TABS( CTRL+ SHIFT+ T). Don't open NEW WINDOW TAB or close current tab to avoid overwrite session.
- Second, copy 2 Folder of Session in C:\Users\ (your computer name)\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default to Desktop or somewhere else out of system folder. Now, close Vivaldi.
- Third, restart computer then check in the 2 copied folers ( NOT IN Vivaldi\User Data\Default) and Delete any files that 've just been modified by ERROR( the newest files)_ KEEP the old ones.
- Forth, Delete 2 folder of Session IN Vivaldi\User Data\Default and replace with the 2 folders that You had just modified yourself.
- Open Vivaldi and enjoy. Successfull Recover Lost Stack tab Vivaldi
- Finally, save all as session to be safe.

@HackerTryTyping
Bottom line is there don't seem to be any decent trouble free browsers. Vivaldi started off great for me for a few months, having over the years ditched IE, MS Edge, Firefox, and Chrome, but now Vivaldi frequently losses tabs and "not responding" per so many apps. -
@skibum52 I have no such experience. Vivaldi works pretty much perfectly here after seven, going on eight years, and continual updates. Of course, I just use it to run my business. It's not an entertainment, gaming or data-collection platform. It's just my office. So YMMV.

This problem is still happening? I thought they have resolved it months ago? It must be more regression bug...
Please file detail bug report on this as good as you can, this will help v team to find the rare bug that causing this annoyance. It should included details like how many windows & tabs your session have, what you did before the session is gone...etc.
Then, please consider upvote these ideas that can reduce the data lost when Vivaldi do botched another startup again:

From time to time, rebuild the Profile fixes many Problems.
Also cleans from things not been used anymore.
It helps as well in to review the whole settings again and find the changes.
