What is stopping you from using V all the time?

What's stopping me now is the fractured support for pen/touch. Sorry to go on about this, I know it's being worked on, but having switched to 1.13 and finding what I thought was a browser that (for the first time since 1.9) didn't hang immediately on using the pen on my surface (P4), I'm now finding that it's basically not really functional - gmail is broken (can't drag labels, etc.) and text highlighting in web pages is hit or miss.
Other browsers (e.g. Firefox quantum, which is where I'm typing this note) handle it all much better. I do understand that both Chromium (which caused the total failure after 1.10) and microsoft (which has messed us all about with the November 2017 creator's update) are partly to blame, but the combination of all this means I'm off until it all gets sorted out. I'll continue to use V on my Dell laptop (win 7) and will continue to evangelize about it, but on the touch system it's going to be Firefox and Edge. Good luck, all. I'll file a bug report that describes all the issues I've found, specifically on the SP4.

Same here mate. My number one touch-oriented feature wish is for tab stack thumbnails to be previewed when using my Surface pen or long-pressing with my finger.
-
@aach1 For the record, bug report is: VB-34983
-
@paragon hovering the pen over a stack always worked for me (in v 1.9, which was the last one that worked at all with the pen). you may have something wrong in tab settings?
-
Its looks like the latest version of V is now completely compatible with IDM and it now reconises videos, now I don't think I ever need to switch browsers ever again!
Well done V !!
Bye Bye Firefox, you bloated slow piece of junk....

@spiderkeys Firefox 57+ is awesome, as is Vivaldi, an embaressment of riches
-
TOR Browser, nothing else
-
For me, these are deal-breakers:
- Mail client
- RSS reader
- Keyboard shortcuts (esp. speed dial!)
- Automated entry filling (it remembers stuff like internet explorer or chrome, rather than letting you predefine how to fill forms like old opera)
- Lack of configuration options
- Lack of individual webpage settings
- Option to disable javascript and animated images
And then thereβs also a lot of minor stuff that is annoying but I can live with.
-
Just lack of android for me.
I like to work on the train/bus home.

Edit bookmarks from bookmark menu/ reorder directly is not possible yet. Right click on those bookmarks opens the link instead of edit options like other browsers
-
@siegson By Bookmark "menu" you mean Bookmark Bar - yes?
-
@ayespy yes, sorry, it's the bookmark bar (with bookmarks in a folder)
Click on the folder, folder content expands, then its not possible to do anything with the bookmarks -
@siegson Why does it prevent you using Vivaldi? It is easy enough to organise your bookmarks in the Bookmarks Panel or Bookmarks Tab.
-
@pesala true, you can do it from there but it just takes more steps. I need to get used to it probably as all other browsers do support this. Sync was the biggest hurdle. that's fixed now. Will give an other try!
-
Lack of syncing and underdeveloped bookmark menu handling prevents me from using Vivaldi as all time browser. I tried for few weeks but got back to Firefox as main browser.
Syncing is announced as soon to arrive option which is great. Cant wait to see it in official release.
For bookmarks, it seems will not be soon.
On issue is that user cannot drag and drop link to bookmark bar. He must open bookmark tab and add new bookmark there.
The second issue is that when right clicked on bookmark in bookmark bar link is instantly open. Right click should always pop up menu with additional options, not to directly execute action.
For example, I often need to open bookmark in new tab or even new window. I cannot, as there is no pup up menu to offer such options. Such menu exists in bookmark tab but not on bookmark bar.

scrolling with touchpad using two fingers is slower than on rest of my system on windows 7 x64
touch screen pinch gesture does not work to adjust zoom level
-
@strangiato The touch isses are mine problem too. It got even worse in the latest Snapshot. Scrolling in touch / tablet mode on windows only works, if you minimize the window and then switch through task switcher back to vivaldi. I really like this browser and story and the team behind, so i will wait in patience until this got fixed still using it as my main browser, sometimes switiching when in touch mode.

@aach1 nopes, checked and re-checked. Not using wintab, just vanilla touch settings.
