@hg42 , the support o extensions are in work, AFAIK, for security it has, among others, the ad and trackerblocker by default, where you can ad more filter sources, if you want. YouTube you can open in Vivaldi itself,. Search related functions certainly need some improvement, like other search engines to these by default, which wil comme too in the future. Apart for more security you can use some apps, like Blokada, which also block ads including these in the apps in your phone, you can switch to several DNS services and it has an inbuild VPN (paid) optinal. Download it from the web or from F-Droid, because the versión in Google Play isn't full functional, because Google hate privacy tools like this.
For the rest, wait to the next updates of Vivaldi, maybe this include some features more, Vivaldi mobile is still very young and the team is good but very small. -

Yes, this is really necessary, one function allows you to immediately add:
Ublockorigin (maximum privacy + block all ads ((much more private than regular lists in vivaldi)
Dark reader (the best dark mode, not like the standard chrome mode in vivaldi)
Almost any VPN can be added!
*And much more.
By the way, the developer of the kIwi browser (an open source browser with extensions) seems to have written himself that he would like other developers to be able to understand how to add this function to their browsers and add it accordingly.
In short, let the developers see how it should be implemented in the kiwi browser. (code open)
This feature can attract a huge number of users to your browser, and it will save you time (for example, developing your blocker).

This would be great. In case you don't know, Firefox and kiwi browsers has extension support on android browsers now. They should add this too.

@gkccom, Firefox 68.11.0 is the last version to have full extension support.
Current versions only support something like 8 or 9 extensions, and not the ones I need (Violentmonkey and Stylus).

Well I am using Firefox for Android 68.11.0 on my not so expensive phone: Android Xiaomi Redmi 7.
I have 12 extensions, including Violentmonkey, which itself is running 42 userscripts, several of which trigger background http requests.
And it's all very fast.
I didn't see a slow down compared with when I disable all this stuff.For playing video in the background and even when screen is off, I advise NewPipe.

I also desire to have this feature as other browser which is also based on Chromium has this feature. It would be great to implement this feature

Well, for what concern blocking ads I guess it would be better some app like Blokada.
I have installed uBlockOrigin too in my Kiwi and Firefox on Android but, even if uBO is an excellent addon, it works only inside the browser ambient while Blokada is system comprehensive though not perfect

@marko-indaco, yes, Blokada is a good app, but it should be mentioned that it is important to install it from the official website or from F-Droid, since the version on Google Play is a shortened version due to Google's restrictive regulations.

adblockers, metamask, password managers. All extremely valuable extensions that work on Kiwi. Opera has some of this built in, I believe, on a mobile version. Time to step up, Vivaldi. Go for baroque!

And yet, 2 years later, still no extension support in sight.

@marko-indaco working inside the browser gives it a huge advantage as it knows the context and can affect transferred data without certificate issues, though the chromium variant is incomplete due to API limitations which would have to be solved to make it relevant
though honestly proper content blocker is a core feature that ideally would be supported natively -
I tried using Kiwi for a while but, the complete lack of ANY sync feature at all, and how ublock crashes when i try to highlight text from my filters to edit them, make it unusable. I'll be staying with a Firefox fork as those have sync, (limited, but ublock is there) extensions AND doesn't crash. Ads aren't the only thing that make mobile internet unusable, there are so many annoyances that make the use of a content blocker a must.

@lonm +1 upvote, I hoping to get Ublock Origin and Canvas Blocker to work in Android. That's the only thing that keep me away from the browsers. If they do, I would permanently moved to Vivaldi in every devices I had(from Firefox)

@akasm I agree a content blocker is important right now, especially ublock origin with advanced mode. That is why after using Vivaldi mobile for a while, I now use Kiwi. For sync, I use the extension Floccus (open source) !

Vivaldi Team plz introduce extension support in 2022 for android version browser and create history trust me guys you will become the only chromium based browser to have all the 3 :
- translate
- sync
- extension
You guys will rule the browser market in entire Android world. You will have so many users that you would have to buy new server arena for accomodating them.

For those like me who are stuck on Firefox 68.11.0 for the add-on support.
I tried and kept Kiwi Browser that can handle Chrome extensions.
I have been using it for a few weeks now with Violentmonkey and around 70 user scripts, including some that should slow down the device or overflow its memory by loading tons of stuff.
Well, it's as fast as Firefox 68.11.0, it's running without lags, without problems, I keep it now.
The main feature it lacks for me is custom searches, though.
A pity as I used them for all my searches on Firefox. I lose much time not, each search takes several steps, using duckduckgo !bangs, which are less custom, not maintained and less immediate.
