      Sometimes we want to drag and drop stuff from a page to the web panel, and to make the panel stay open when doing that we need to go to the settings... That's way too far. 😃

      So a quick access to that somewhere in the panel's toolbar would be very handy.

      It could also work like opera, like when you are dragging something and hover over the panel icons and the panel opens, then you can drop the content wherever you want.

      Quick weird example, but you get the idea.

      Thx..

        Useful idea. I currently don't use the auto-close on the panel because I need it to stay open in certain circumstances. In the meantime I toggle panel with 4th mouse button.

          If I understand you want a checkbox next to the title. I think it'd be better in the right-click menu (separated for every panel).

            This is the toolbar, and is available for every panel.

              Why not place it in the panel sidebar?

                I think an even better option would be a button to toggle floating / docked behavior for each panel independently. That would satisfy the use case discussed here, and also let us have floating panels for certain things (like SoundCloud, in my case) while still having docked panels for others (window panel, notes panel, etc.)

                  OP, I just found the feature you're looking for. It's already implemented. If you hold ALT while clicking the "Hide Panel" button in the status bar (bottom), it toggles floating panels on and off.

                    @dannyromano Good to know. Thanks.
                    But still I would like to have that toggle up there just to avoid too much mouse traveling. 👍

                      @regnas You can use a keyboard shortcut to toggle the floating panel on both Stable and Snapshot: Settings/Keyboard/View/Toggle floating panel. (thanks to @iAN-CooG )

                        @dannyromano This is the feature I would like to request, too. Just as you can have a specific width for any panel, it would certainly be great to have a choice, if you like it fixed for floating. As in Opera I would prefer to have Messenger or WhatsApp in a floating panel, there are some cases where I would prefer to have it open and next to the window open.

                        The feature request is here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/28387/set-floating-option-for-each-panel/14
