uBlock Origin fails to recognize that it is in a private window
-
Clicking on its icon and then on the eyedropper to block an element brings the focus back to my non private window. If I have advanced mode enabled to see what domains it is blocking, I see the list of domains from my non private windows in my private window. The private window seems to be invisible to the extension icon and its popup, the right click -> block element option works and the extension successfully blocks elements in private windows. I don't experience this issue on Chrome, does this happen to anyone else?

@claraangeles All extensions are disabled by default on private windows, you have to check "allow in incognito" in
vivaldi://extensions/
. Then it should work as expected. -
@luetage I have it enabled, I can see the icon in private windows. The problem I am describing happens while clicking the icon in a private window.
-
edit: wait, this is ublock origin? Works for me in a private window, this is strange.
-
@luetage yes, it is and it also works for me. Only the icon popup displays invalid information and moves the focus back to the last focused non private window when I click on the eyedropper.
-
@claraangeles Yes, this happens to me as well in Vivaldi 1.15.1147.29
I manually updated Ublock Origin to 1.16 because of this "bug" https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/26040/update-problem-of-extensions-with-vivaldi
Restarted Vivaldi and enabled UBlock use in Incognito Windows.
Then I opened Vivaldi forums in Normal Window.
Then I opened Youtube in Private Window (in foreground). In Incognito window (Youtube) clicking uBlock icon and then eyedropper switches focus to Normal Window (Vivaldi Forums).
-
@tbgbe Hmm, I am on 1.16 already, maybe that's the reason indeed.
-
@luetage Don't think so as I did check 1.15.2(?) first and had same "problem", then remembered to check for updates.
-
I am using uBlock Plus 2.0.2.1 and it works with Vivaldi private windows, after enabling it in vivaldi://extensions/
-
Thanks everyone for the help. I have version 1.15.24 and manual update is not working, I guess my only option is to uninstall the version I have and then install the latest one.
Edit: after installing 1.16.0 the problem still persists.

Actually I just searched for uBlock Plus in the Chrome store and this extension no longer exists, I will research this further, they must have removed it for a reason. The extension itself looks like Ublock Origin.

@witchtech maybe it was this fake uBlock Plus that was recently removed from the store?
