Private Window default search engine – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.15.1094.3
-
@gwen-dragon: I have uninstall and reinstall, ran without extensions, delete user profile, same problem. It looks like it loads fast, but look at the right hand side of the address bar, and you will see things like 218/220 and fails to completely finish. Morg42, I'm aware that it is a snapshot, but unless we report bugs, or what we perceive as bugs, they may continue to exist. However, lack of sleep clouded my judgment, and forgot that I can switch back to Stable, so you had wise advice and I'll take it, and resume snapshot with the next snapshot is released. I have an bad case of OCD (I'm being serious) and I can be sensitive and obsess about things at times, like you said. Take a look at the right hand of the address bar and let me know if it loads all the elements (Iike 200/200).

@gwen-dragon: Ok, thanks. I just had minimizing the count of redundant posts in mind.
Then I'll continue posting my observations without feeling bad about it.

If I'm not mistaken, blocked elements are not counted there as they are not "to be loaded" by Vivaldi (Vs renderer doesn't even get to see those).
I'm aware that it is a snapshot, but unless we report bugs, or what we perceive as bugs, they may continue to exist
This was no criticism at all agains reporting bugs or irregularities, but your ... announcement (to say it nicely
) to change back to another browser.
However...
However, lack of sleep clouded my judgment, and forgot...
Which can happen to all of us. Hope you're better now
Take a look at the right hand of the address bar and let me know if it loads all the elements (Iike 200/200).
Loads 130 elements (of 130) here in a combination of total JS block, oBlock Origin and network-wide DNS blacklisting. So maybe not really comparable...

@morg42: First of all, when I said you criticized, I meant the good kind...constructive and wise. I am using Stable now. I'm going to eliminate all traces of Vivaldi and install the snapshot...I'll tell you what happens.
-
@dlbryant: By the way, morg, I have six different types of mental illnesses, so my announcement to change browsers is yet another example of a brain fart from having bipolar disorder...I make mistakes from poor judgment skills from my bipolar, and I apologize if I offended anyone. Please show me grace for my mistakes, my friend.
-
@dlbryant: I completed deleting from hard drive and registry, and re-installed, went to ABC News and ESPN without uBlock Origin and and it worked. Installed uBlock Origin, and the same old problem...going back to Stable.
-
@dlbryant: I installed AdBlocker Ultimate and Disconnect and everything works fine now...I have no idea why people with uBlock Origin are not having the same problems I did. I hope this problem gets fixed.
-
@dlbryant: Hello. It took me a while to get here, but I have the very same problem with this lates snapshot.
It seems like NSL bug, never stops loading with Ublock Origin.
This is a very annoying problem and I don't want to have to disable Ublock Origin. Please fix asap! -
@dlbryant: I spoke too soon, the sites I visited today are working fine, others don't fully load. No one can duplicate the problems. I can't use 1.14 forever. If I continue having this problem, I will have to use a browser that does not have this problem. That is not me being "sensitive", or making an "announcement" I want to continue using Vivaldi, but I have used Snapshot for the past year without problems, but this is a deal breaker if it is not fixed in the next stable.

+1, this is the first time I can't use Vivaldi snapshots as it has worked fine in the past.
No idea if Ublock has to fix this or Vivaldi, but it may just be a Vivaldi issue. -
@escorpiom: Other ad blockers from Chrome Web Store are causing the same problem, including AdBlock and Adblock Plus. The only solution is using Disconnect, but it is a inferior solution.
-
Thanks for the Snapshot with Chrome update. Now I can use the new version since 1.14.1064.3.

I understood it as you meant it. Not sure if I'd have answered otherwise

Thanks for fixing versions 14 not showing up in Gnome favourites in the update a few days ago. I'd actually spent a day trying to work out what it was, thinking it was something I'd deleted, was driving me nuts!

@dlbryant: Thanks for going so far to test that. I was pulling out my hair because I couldn't understand what was happening. Initially I thought it was an issue wit Ublock, but now I know it's a Vivaldi issue. Let's hope for an update that fixes this.
-
@escorpiom: I have tried all kinds of adblockers, same problem. No adblockers, no problem, but it takes over 10 seconds to load a pages when it should take three seconds with uBlock.

I saw this post (http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-browsers-new-opera-51-far-faster-than-firefox-quantum-58/) on ZDNet and decided to run my own test, here it is (copied from my comment of ZDNet):
It depends on many different variables, especially the PC you use, the internet connection, and the load on the server. This is what I got from http://browserbench.org/Speedometer/:
Vivaldi (Snapshot 1.15.1094.3): 163.8 /- 0.91
Chrome (): 156 +/- 0.84
Opera (51.0): 131.3 +/- 1.2
Firefox (58.0.2): 96.7 +/- 1.2
Edge: 84.6 +/- 0.96You can see the results here. I ran each test 3 times and all scores stayed pretty close, though I took the highest of the 3. Vivaldi edges out a little over Chrome, and Opera is still way behind Vivaldi and Chrome.
PC: i7-2600k @ 4.4GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX 760.
Internet: Ping 12, Download 120.3 Mbps, Upload 6.14 Mbps @ speedtest.netClarification: I used version 1.0 to test, and not 2.0.

@tylorw1: The i7-2600k while a powerful processor, is now turning 7 years old, so think of that as you will for hardware to do this test on. lol.
-
@yuyu-k: See our comments above, this happens when adblock extensions are installed. Most pages never stop loading.
I believe this is the same issue as you're having now.
