Download Manager

It would be great to be able to use aria2 as the download handler for an optional download manager. It is a well-established way of downloading things much more quickly from the web for just this purpose and is totally open source. Very easy to use and works on multiple platforms.

@Pesala I support this feature.
- Edit: While messing around in chromium repository (Vivaldi wasn't open source but Chromium based) I came across the feature and searched on the nets and I also found the following article, don't know if it helps:
https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/settings/throttling/
https://github.com/chromium/chromium/tree/main/services/network/throttling
I am not an expert in coding but I know HTML, CSS, C++, C# and Java but I have no idea about JavaScript so I was hoping that I could somehow modify my client (I don't even know if it is a smart thing to do legally) so there was that, if devs could let me maybe I could do something Idk -If they ever see this message -
@Pesala @LonM
it is already thereF12>Gear(Settings)>Throttling
You can see it from the first link I posted above this comment, why does nobody know about this
It just needs to be added to the interface I guess. Hope It helped you too. Anyways I'll see you around. Take careForgot to mention how to work with it, we add a custom profile(also take note to not forget that you set a throttling rule for later), Lets say we have 2Mbit/s connection speed if we want to set a speed for 3/4 of the connection we have which would be 1.5MBit/s we convert this to kbit/s that is required for the input parameter 1500kbit/s (maybe exactly 1536 Idk just around that number is fine) will be the number. I have yet to try this but I will inform if it works properly without any incidents.It doesn't work for me but the reason for that might be because I didn't enable developer settings override or something, looking for the solution now.
Apparently it is only for HTTP connections and I think downloading is FTP protocols (not a networking expert) so there is that -
Found other in depth articles explaining throttling with dev tools and how to enable them (I am not an expert so we might need help on that) and also another page that shows comparisons with tests of various methods like lighthouse(?) including downloads. And it seems that also has an extension too. I will provide links:
-
https://www.debugbear.com/blog/chrome-devtools-network-throttling <main article
-
https://www.debugbear.com/blog/devtools-local-overrides < lets you get dev-tools to work perhaps?
-
https://www.debugbear.com/blog/network-throttling-methods < download comparison graphics
-
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lighthouse/blipmdconlkpinefehnmjammfjpmpbjk < extension
It would be great if someone managed to find a workaround in the meantime and share with the rest of us the results, also help development close the gap too with the competition.

@LoveFourSeasons This Future Request is marked "pipeline", which means that the Vivaldi team has it on the to du list, but when this feature will be released is not yet known.
-
@stardepp I think it is very important they prioritize integrating this as soon as they could because personal users have to use external (paid/commercial) programs to adjust their network traffic. As I tried to explain in another thread just imagine while you watch a video/stream on your machine and lets say your spouse will be trying to read a blog or something but they might not be able to because you might be directing all the traffic (unknowingly) to your own machine in your network. It is not a necessary but a very needed option in my opinion (which I often utilize myself to relief others)

@pauloaguia Would it solve your problem to enable Notify on Completed Downloads?
-
@aronquemarr that post is almost three years old now, and Vivaldi always ask if a file with the same name is already exists in the destination directory.

@aronquemarr said in Download Manager:
@pauloaguia Would it solve your problem to enable Notify on Completed Downloads?
Actually, my problem has already been solved (at least on mobile) - whenever I try to download the same file again, the browser asks me whether I want to redownload it or open the previously downloaded copy.

i try the link and it do not work pari
