Vivaldi Forum mod
-
@josephj11 Post in the forum mod topic about it, it’s not a Vivaldi Forum issue ☛ https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/19728/vivaldi-forum-mod/1024, but this issue already has a solution.
-
@josephj11 , it's related to the Forum mod. For this I have temporarily parked it, using Dark Reader until this is fixed. They are already working at it.
-
@catweazle You just have to paste one line of code into UserCSS, then the button is visible again. The update will take some time, since I’ve noticed a few other problems.
-
@luetage, I am too clumsy to screwing arround in CSS codes, especially if this problem is in the process of being fixed and I still use the Dark Reader extension by default.
This by the way I have to deactivate, if I use the Forum Mod, because they conflict, causing some problems transparent boxes and menus, making them unreadable. -
@catweazle It’s pretty straightforward though:
-
Activate the mod.
-
Copy following line of code (use copy code button on hover)
span.votes .fa-chevron-up::before {content: "\f164" !important;}
-
Open VFM options (e.g. avatar dropdown menu or right‐click on extension icon)
-
Click modifications at top and hit the slider to activate UserCSS
-
Paste and hit »SAVE« (modification will be automatically loaded, you should now see vote buttons)
And yeah, dark reader is a pretty aggressive extension, it will try to overwrite anything and has even caused issues with mail in the past.
-
-
@luetage , I know that Dark Reader causes certain problems, but I can not do without using it, I hate pages with a white background and activating Dark Mode in flags is not a really valid solution, nor to click the Invert Filter in the menu.

@luetage My CSS mod linked in op is wrong, it should be https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/520786 LOL
Thanks for your hard work over here, I'm using 'em everyday!
-
@guigirl IDK. I rarely downvote posts, so I may have missed its disappearance.
-
@josephj11 it's been a while ago...
-
@luetage That works for me. If the downvote button was removed in the past, I didn't notice it till now.

@luetage said in Vivaldi Forum mod:
2 bugs remain until I will push an update. Currently I experience an awkward issue with the extension not loading when opening a link in a new tab (e.g. middle click). Closing that tab and reopening it will load the extension. This somewhat worries me. The next thing is I never got the notification that the forum would be updated. On Android I saw the notification box, which leads me to believe the »dismissing notifications« default mod is broken. But it’s hard to test this without a message and I didn’t have the time to do so when I noticed it.
Can someone confirm these bugs? For the first one just open a forum link in a new tab, for the second one I’d like to know if anyone with the forum mod active saw the notification with the »dismiss« button.

@luetage opening the [luetage said in ] ‘vivaldi forum mod’ link in your post in a new tab with a mouse gesture (fg), context menu (fg) & middle click (bg) seems to break nothing. (v 4.3.2431.3, vfm

i didn’t see the notice the day before the update (i guess it was there already so i can confirm the mod is broken).
// edit: oh no, sorry. i forgot about the complications installing extensions, so although i pulled the commits back then, i didn’t install them. it’s the vfm 3.3 release /

@juanvase The forum administrators setup a notification in advance of forum updates, e.g.
The forum will be updated tomorrow, Saturday 2nd October, expect downtime
These notifications display below the submenu and are persistent. In the past they were visible for a few days until the update happened, so I implemented the possibility to dismiss the notification. Whenever the forum loads the mod checks whether there is a notification, whether it is new or old and whether it dismissing the notification is active. The notification itself can still be read in the console log, even if it has been dismissed. That’s the setup at least, but it seems like notifications are simply hidden right now, even if not being dismissed.

-
@potmeklecbohdan Yep, that leaves just the bug with dismissing notifications. I’ll see what I can do about that.
-
I’m an idiot, the notification check never loaded, likely removed it when I worked on the big 3.0 release… There’s a good chance it still works, we will see. Have submitted the update for review, might take a little while.
-
@luetage Thank you for the update to version 3.4
-
@stardepp So it finally went through, took 3 days…
version 3.4
- Updated additional font awesome icons.
- Fix for dismissing notifications (hopefully)
- Some tag theming.
