Vivaldi Forum mod
-
@ornorm Strange. I can't see any errors specifically relating to the forum mod.
-
@ornorm You get the piwik errors because you are using adblock on Vivaldi Forum. Disable ublock for this site and let Vivaldi collect some valuable data please
-
@ornorm What if you:
- go to
vivaldi://extensions
- Turn on developer mod
- Go to vivaldi forum mod
- Turn on "collect errors"
- Refresh your tabs and try to do some stuff
- Re-open
vivaldi://extensions
- See if it collected any errors
- go to
-
@lonm Hey. Maybe I found something. I did open a new tab outside of my tab stack to be able to follow your instructions, find the console, etc. I see I'm still unable to use the emotes for example within the tab stacks but I can outside of it. Could this be a reason of the issue?
-
@ornorm I wonder if this is maybe a focus related issue with vivaldi. I'll double check this just now
-
@luetage Kidding or not? I didn't face this in the past while I was adblocking everywhere.
Sorry, I'm just sweating trying to follow what's proposed by LonM which isn't that natural for me... -
@ornorm Apologies. I have a bad habit of assuming people know about things like the console and all that.
I can't reproduce an issue with tab stacks unfortunately.
-
@lonm Test
-
@lonm Not a problem. You're a great guide. I could find everything you proposed.
-
@ornorm I'm not kidding at all. Vivaldi uses piwik to collect user data, ublock blocks this and then you get the errors – they do no harm at all, but if you wanna support Vivaldi you should disable ublock.
-
The good thing about piwik is (if I'm reading ublock origin right), it is all hosted by vivaldi which means no 3rd parties to worry about
-
@lonm Ok, strange. Just by following what you said and having refreshed the tab within the tab stack, it worked (the test posted right before)
-
@luetage Ok, thanks for letting me know this. Really important. I'll de-activate it for Vivaldi (for sure)
-
@ornorm For how long had you gone without refreshing the tab, out of curiosity? (if you remember)
-
@lonm A long time I guess. I just, when I'm on the forum, navigate by using the menu icons of the forum (don't know if that refreshes the page).
-
@ornorm It might be the case that the mod sbreaks after an extended period of navigating about. I'll look into this at a later date.
Note to self: maybe the forum does something with the DOM and changes the buttons so the listeners dont work any more
-
@lonm Thanks for your great help. Where can I find the errors that could have been collected by VF Mod (now that I did activate it following your kind instructions)?
By following the first explanations you gave (F12, etc.)? Or is it somewhere else? -
@luetage Thanks a lot again luetage. I'm ashamed I didn't know this because I really want to support Vivaldi. I thought you were kidding because of the (so glad I can insert those again...).
That's why I presumed it was ironic and, having an intense battle and struggle with all the codes, messages, etc. I was quite in a hurry and couldn't take the correct distance to understand your message correctly.
P.S. : I think there should be a kind of pinned message at the very top of the forum for the users to know they should de-activate their adblockers on Vivaldi pages (because I'm pretty sure we are thousands of users not knowing this). -

Unsure about this. Could be seen as "oh noes, even this forum annoy people with <<disable your adblock>>".
A small text on bottom which kindly ask "whitelist vivaldi in your adblock to support us" (link to privacy page) would be a better choice -
@hadden89 For sure! Any idea to have the users aware of it. For the Vivaldi lovers (like me ), I feel stupid I blocked Vivaldi during 8 months...
