Snapshot 1.0.429.5 - A fix for videos causing freezes and a new option for tab switching
-
There might be more to the X than we can see at a glance - especially because it sometimes has to share its place with the "mute" icon (you need a lot of open tabs to see that )
-
"Check for Updates" is unstable. For some snapshots, it shows a pop-up window that reports whether there is an update. For other snapshots, it does nothing. (I don't install any official beta; I just stick to latest snapshots from this blog.) Mac OS 10.11.4 .
-
Well, the behavior was never even available before, nevermind default. So when they introduced the setting to open new tab with bookmark, there was a 50% chance that default would be the "activated" state, and 50% chance it would be the "de-activated" state. Maybe they flipped a coin.
-
This is true. It's better than it was some months ago, but still unreliable.
Same here. (At least until this snapshot came out. Currently the "X" button always appears, but I've been using this snapshot only for 20 minutes so far
-
It is not even a real concern if you share the computer - as long as you make absolutely sure that the other user can not get admin rights and to mandatory has to use a different user account than you. Otherwise all bets are off anyway because apart from a "one time pad" every encryption can be broken, provides you have enough time and computing power.
But I must admit I would like to have a master password too, makes things a bit harder to crack.

[Mac] Vivaldi not shown when clicking Vivaldi icon (VB-11036)
This is not completely solved. Last night I had it again in OS X Mavericks when updating the snapshot. I had to quit it manually and launch Vivaldi again. On its first launch all menus (menubar) showed in English which is not my own language. Please investigate the issues on OS X 10.9.X… -
Known bug and being worked on.
-
Same on OS X Mavericks.
-
The Update popup window ALWAYS goes backward (hiding from view) while it has to always stay on top.@ryofurue: you have to manually download and install beta1 and check again if it will update or not; in case you do snapshots the SU works correctly, but only for these snapshot builds. These are different trunks…
-
They deactivated a few snapshots from auto-update because they were a bit buggy and should only be tested after you read the blog so you can decide whether you wanted to give it a try or skip this version
-
F4 is working as it should be but clicking the panel toggle leads to nothing. Unfortunately this makes using the side-panel (imho) user-unfriendly.
-
Whooo!
"Click Active Tab to Switch to Previous Tab"
Just the thing i've been anxiously waiting for, been asking to get this feature on new Opera for couple years now, nothing.
It's the small things like this that can have such a huge impact on some users. -
Edited to add request #3.
I'm going to start off with praise.
-
I absolutely LOVE the address bar. The loading byte/kb count, the funky rewind spring effect… very slick, and very much noticed.
-
Unlike Opera, I can actually use the dev tools in Vivaldi without losing contact with my keyboard. Yay!
-
With a cloned profile from Opera, using 95% of the same extensions, Vivaldi is noticeably more responsive.
Now some requests:
-
Can you add "Reopen Closed Tab" and "New Tab" to the context menu for the blank area of the title bar, where there are no tabs?
-
The ability to snap-dock the dev window to the bottom of the window, or a screen edge (!!) would be awesome.
-
A way to re-order context menu items would be fantastic! Please? I don't mind editing text configs. Actually, for now I just want "Open Link in Background Tab" at the top. :p
Now a note about the new tab clicking. A long click/press should NOT switch to the previous tab, as the user may be wanting to re-order their tabs. As it is, the new behavior is jarring in that context.
Finally - how can I copy an existing portable installation to a different computer AND keep the extensions? I tried this earlier at work, and everything was fine but all my extensions had disappeared. Fearing other things had gone amiss under the hood, I decided to dump it.

i prefer to be possible seeing the password because I can have some problem with the vivaldi login in future and I got memorized the password. But I would like a Master Password as in Opera.
-
That bug introduced in previous snapshot still exists
Vivaldi keeps stealing focus from other windows when alttabbing to them
Even when I switch between two vivaldi windows, it sometimes snaps me back to other vivaldi window
I have no idea what causes this but opening a new tab in any window fixes it for a moment but it happens so often that I think i will downgrade -
wojcieche – Maybe I took it wrong. You're right.
That's the point -- only logins -- Passwords not exist. I should be (myself) able to see passwords as their owner.Suppose
At the moment a computer is stolen or used by another person – even if the password in the settings will be hidden (as it is now) -- it's still the browser remember passwords.
For example:Someone wants to log on to Facebook, Twitter or another party. He does not know the password. Comes in a set but there is no password (because they are hidden).
But this is not a problem for this person. Vivaldi remembered passwords. Now, thanks to the settings he sees where (on which pages) can login --- as I do this now.
After that the person can very easily change the password to whatever he wants. It is easy to bypass security. Somehow it must be solve.
-
After the update, the browser no longer start!
-
Well, damn. I keep forgetting about that bin icon.
I suppose it's just habit from Opera, where the non-tab blank area has "New tab" and "Reopen last closed tab" at the TOP. The reopen entry for the tab context in both Opera and Vivaldi is at the very bottom - less accessible, so it became a habit to use the blank area to reopen tabs.
Most of the time I only have a few tabs open, so there's a huge blank space that's easier to target.
-
This is a pet peeve of mine, especially on my phone. I want to see what I've typed on my personal device, whether it's my PC or my mobile. Like you I use a plugin to reveal passwords when moused over, "ShowPassword" 1.1.1 in the Chrome store.
-
Sometimes the gesture for a new tab opens a previously closed tab, not necessarily the most recent. Anyone else getting this?
