Snapshot 1.0.420.4 - Search suggestions and further bug fixing

No need. The data will stay right there unless you tell the uninstaller to remove it.

Thanks. I like the idea of helping the Vivaldi team, but I sure hate headaches. I'll wait, and hopefully they have smooth scrolling actually working so I can see the improvements there.
-
I have downgraded by simple downloading an older build's installer and installed it over this version… no conflict about older/newer build prompted

Well yes, but don't forget that Chromium is based on Webkit, so even Google didn't developed it from scratch. They took something that existed already and initially contributed to it, then forked it. Nothing stops Vivaldi from forking Blink in the future as well and going slowly their own way. Now it makes no sense, they are too small for that. But in the future, why not.
Also, if they can actually get the security patches and apply them even a few days later to Vivaldi, that is perfectly fine for me. Many companies made Linux based products or based on some vendor kernel. They are all behind if we go that route. Even CentOS needs to wait for Red Hat. But a few hours to a day is acceptable and it works in the open source community. For an extreme insecure hole, several days is already bad and a few weeks is a disaster. And a month or more is unacceptable. With browsers, the its actually sensitive because they are constantly exposed on the wild.

Agree, dragging bookmarks to create them is very handy. I do that all the time in other browsers, like dragging from the url address bar to some bookmark folder is the fastest way.
-
Unexpectedly unusable, but the dead bird was funny So I put back 1.0.418.3 and then searched for that icon under the Vivaldi resources. Apparently there is no roasted chicken there The bird landed fresh only since 1.0.420.4 or I don't know where to look at ?

I was going to test this build out like I did with all the previous ones, but seeing how many people are having trouble with it, I'll skip this build! Vivaldi is my main (and only) browser, so I kinda need it to be usable all the times!

Great browser so far.
I updated from beta2 to beat3. Winxp and found:
Gif and Video on Facebook are broken.
Command "Ctrl+F" on " view-source:"-sides don't work. -
Thanks for your comment the team is actively working on improving bookmarks these days. please send a us feature request on vivaldi.com/bugreport
Thanks in advanceSince you are working on bookmarks carry the following bugs:
1 - If you open with the middle mouse button to a folder that contains more than 20 bookmarks will be open ONLY 20 bookmarks, if there is a limit you must be able to choose how many bookmarks, if there are many bookmarks, the browser should ask "Do you really want to open all bookmarks?";
2 - If you open with the middle mouse button a folder that has a subfolder is also open bookmarks subfolder;
3 - If you open with the middle mouse button to a folder, the bookmarks do not open in the same order in which they appear in the folder, two versions is working properly. In "sorting by title" bookmark, you might have the ability to view folders first? Currently it is a bit confusing.
PS: Already reported in vivaldi.com/bugreport
Thanks for the great work they make.

Are you on Linux?

I'd further suggest to file a bugreport to the AV vendor because the "probably" means in plain English "uhm … not sure ..., but some kind of heuristics popped up that I can't interpret, so I'll flag it as some similar Trojan". If it is true: fine. If not - and that is quite probable: That is called a "false positive".
So what to do?
Before and while downloading:
Check if the connection to the download is secured and the certificate is valid and fits to the site.
If not: Problem. Someone might have tried a man-in-the-middle attack, or your computer was infected before and tries to redirect you to a different place than you want to go to.After download:
Check the signature of your Vivaldi download and check if it is valid.
If it is: Report to the AV vendor that it is signed software and that the signature is valid and that his heuristics sucks.
If not: Problem. Thoroughly check your system - best with a different AV because obviously the AV you had failed - which can happen. If an AV detects 99.99% of several billions of malware stuff out there, there are still thousands or millions of samples it does not detect. AV does not replace brain - err - safe practices - and does not make anyone immune against everything out there.@Team_Vivaldi Please post checksums/hashes and file sizes to the downloads - that makes checking before doing anything with the download easier.

It's been there since the beginning. Don't know where that page image is stored (and it is a whole page, not just the bird, I'm pretty sure).
-
Yes as Handtuch42 said CTRL+F do not work inside View page source and sometimes i get dead bird page on history and yes it's a bit slower.

(On 64-bit slackware linux)
Autocomplete-related problem with this buid: I have bookmarked "vivald.net/en-US/forum/…", when i type just "vivaldi.net" in the adress bar and hit enter, I'm taken to my bookmark, as if it had been autocompleted. (This is with autocomplete disabeled, when enabeled, the first bookmark gets autocompleted, and if I then erase the "/en-US/forum/viv..." part, same thing happens, it is impossible to access "vivaldi.net" by actually typing it.) -
On 32 bit windows 7 it behaved very badly with frequent crashes and it reset my open tabs. luckily I had bookmarked them lacking a sync facility. So I have regressed.

Very SLOW and laggy now! / without addons /
/ win7 x64 8gb ram Samsung SSD 850 EVO / Win10 garbage Op. system, delete and not tested.

Only 2870 are the previous versions.
But unfortunately yet until all of them not good the bookmarks in the header/ bookmarks bar /. It is not possible to delete it directly and to move. The speed dial is needed for this what I do not use. ...and would be good multiple column bookmarks option and synchronization.
Thank You!Sorry my eng language....

A possible problem with Vivaldi is that Vivaldi's code is only executed using Chromium's application runner code, not run into Chromium natively, as Chromium doesn't support it. Vivaldi has a lot of features they have to implement, and it looks like they implement them as applications, third party, into the Chromium's app code. Perhaps it would be better if special API would be created which would make a core integration of the UI code possible, as the additional Vivaldi process needs more memory resources.
Vivaldi needs to add more coders/programmers into their team to help fix this problem and add features to the Chromium code, to contribute to Chromium and add features to make Chromium natively support everything in Vivaldi. But one issue with that is whether or not Chromium will remove those features after every release if Vivaldi keeps adding them in. Google also has control over Chromium, and a monopoly of the web.
This makes it hard to see how Vivaldi can overcome this problem. It's possible that Brave might actually take just the rendering part of Chromium, and strip everything else and add their features natively, but I'm not entirely sure how they do it.
Vivaldi should look into ways they could do this sort of thing, to either contribute to the Chromium code or add their unique features natively in the way that Brave is sort of doing at the same time. If they keep going the way they are, it could get hard to keep going as they go along. This is why they need to think about what they're going to do about this. If one of you at Vivaldi is paying attention, let me know what you think.
I may not fully understand all the things about what I'm talking about regarding Brave, but hopefully I understand the gist of everything else.
