Snapshot 1.0.420.4 - Search suggestions and further bug fixing
-
Browser security is a total non-issue for me. I have a secure network and I employ 100% secure browsing practices. I don't get intrusions or exploits. Ever.
And if I use "insecure" browser to go only to a secure government website and for no other purpose, I am not vulnerable. Web security paranoia may be fine for some but I will not adopt it, OK? Intrusions are not accomplished by magic, but by specific and mostly known routes. A "secure" browser is not a spell that binds intruders from attacking you. It's just reasonably tight against KNOWN exploits. You still have to not be a moron online and invite attacks.
I'll be fine. You needn't concern yourself.
Besides, I already rolled back to 1.0.418, so it's no longer an issue.
Thanks.

In my case, smooth scrolling was just turned off. Period. Even with it supposedly activated, it was not smooth and, BIG TELLTALE, "home" and "end" buttons did not scroll up and down but magically transported you to the beginning or end of the page with no transition, a sign in Chromium that smooth scrolling is not activated.

v1.0.420.4
problem with antivisus Dr.Web
..\Application\vivaldi.exe - probably infected with MULDROP.Trojan -
Sorry don't know if anyone has picked this up yet, I have 1.0.403.24 (Beta 3) (64-bit) and I now find if I close the last remaining open tab instead of returning to the Speed Dial page the window closes completely. This is not so much a bug as a change in behavior which I liked.
-
Haha cool NSANE is still around!
-
How do I rollback? When I tried to roll back with previous versions, I thought tried installing the one prior to the one I wanted to replace, and if I remember correctly got something like a message a new version existed and the installer could not run or some such thing? Going from memory a while back so am unclear, but what I did didn't work.
-
Also, in the last version, smooth scrolling does not show up in the settings search.
-
In Windows, uninstall this one, restart your machine, install the older one.
-
We deactivated auto-update so you can install the previous version and shouldn't be prompted to install the latest version. Please send us a screenshot otherwise.
-
This is serious and unusual to us, would you please help us further by filing a bug report on vivaldi.com/bugreport

Thanks in advance -
Sorry about that, in order to fix it, we need more information about the exact version of your operating system (if Windows we need to know which service pack is installed for example) and Vivaldi's version too. Please let us know all about it here: vivaldi.com/bugreport

I haven't even updated to this version yet, because of the red print above. I'm worried about whether or not I should.
How long does it take to fix the latest Chromium update to the point where it's as stable as the last version? 1-2 weeks, or more?
I was excited about Chromium 49 because of the smooth scrolling and data compression. Was smooth scrolling better, and was the browser faster in the new build?
-
Has Vivaldi been able to do that until now? I know Slimjet has an option in preferences to support NPAPI, but it's not quite on v49 yet. Is there something special about v49? I thought it was v45 when the hammer came down on Chrome/Chromium.
-
I would say just wait for the next version. This one is probably not worth the headache. Everything was worse in the new build. Smooth scrolling did not work at all. These things happen when you're testing on the bleeding edge.
-
The hammer "came down," but Vivaldi was able to revive NPAPI support up through v48 with some behind-the-scene tweaks. So far, everything I have seen running v49 has shut down NPAPI completely.
-
Aha! Thanks! So just backup user data first and restore it when done re-installing the working SS I'm guessing.
-
Thank you. I didn't actually install this SS but was wondering how to do a roll-back should I ever need to.
-
I don't think you're right, but I do hope you are.
I haven't installed this build yet, basically because the red print worries me, and the fact that they didn't make it autoupdate because of the reasons mentioned. Should I wait?
