Snapshot 1.0.340.7 - Silent Tabs For Users, Netflix support and HTML5 notifications

I am AMD fan also but laptop don't have them anymore…. or few that I want. I LIKE true competition NOT government sponsored "if you get what I mean." By that giving a preference to the biggest paying lobbyists.

Heh, I have a nice, quiet, computer a la silentpcreview dot com (until I started running Vivaldi and the cooling fans went knuts) but I'm aiming to gain some performance while reducing the power demand to around 15W or 20W at idle instead of the 150W to 200W it's using now. That should pay the difference between Intel and AMD and a SSD or two will save some more power and make even less noise.
There are a couple of rock-solid 32-bit programs I'm going to miss as O go forward like PGP and Ghost but that's about it. I could massage Windows x64 to run 16-bit programs like Mosaic but … why? A lot of the web doesn't work any more without fancy geegaws in the browser and every web site has to load its own full working copy of Skynet on your machine before it will display a few KB of text.

Bock,
Check out vivaldi://settings/content and scroll down to Pop-ups.
-
I think you mean chrome://settings/content . There is not pop-up setting in the Vivaldi settings as yet.
-
Fair enough.
Maybe I've misunderstood when people talk about the speed of the browser, as I think it's meant in its general usage, but my only complaint about speed and Vivaldi is its slow startup for me, but I tend to keep my browser open per user session, not opening multiple times where it would prove a pain. Not sure if that's a unique i7 complaint, though.

I didn't know Vivaldi offers source code!
https://vivaldi.com/source/Also, I can see the fast forward and the backward button is missing from the navigation buttons. I hope this feature shows up soon. I don't any thing but backward, forward, and a reload button on my panel.
-
http://www.techsupportalert.com/ doesn't work. Other browsers load it fine. Anyone can confirm this? ty

I've gather a few bugs to share with you. I'm not sure if you are already aware of them:
-
Open next/previous panel shortcuts still "select" the hidden mail (or contacts) panel.
-
When a new shortcut feature is added to Vivaldi, it is not checked if the new default shortcut is already used in another custom shortcut, and if so, they end up duplicated.
-
New search engines created from right-click menu don't work. Keyword and search content are all sent to the default search engine.
-
Internal pages links, like settings and speed dial are added to history. That is weird.
-
When an URL is typed in the address bar and it already exists in a bookmark, the drop down menu of the address bar shows it in the bookmarks section (right) and in the history section (wrong as the page has not been visited, and probably wrong too if the page has already been visited)
Love Vivaldi

Silent Tab is a great idea! Can't imagine how many times I've complained to Yahoo and ESPN about videos that play audio (and video) by default. Even better, I would appreciate it as a setting, so the audio becomes an opt-in instead of an opt out. I would think this would help people at work or around others as well.
Now, when the Speed Dial is made configurable and print/print preview made scalable, you'll have a follower. A Recent Sites visited icon, preferably down in the corner, would really round things out (for me).

In my humble opinion it goes to the core of whats wrong with today's society…no manners. Always yelling "in your face" I get the humor and analogy but agree with Pesala. The younger generation will think it's "cool" and we wonder why the world is having such a HARD time getting along.
And no I am spiritual, not ANY religion, and vote independently, so don't try to draw me into that mess.
I'll be flamed for sure and that will prove my point.

That's the problem to many now-days think life is just one BIG PARTY, shows their maturity. There's a time and a place.
-
Ehh, you're absolutely correct! Mea culpa!
You can left-click on the padlock/site icon on the address bar and pick the "Site settings" option too. That'll take you there every time without hopping through hoops but you do have to take your hand off the keyboard to use the mouse.

D0J0P,
Run whichever version you like and works best. Run both of them.
I know Vivaldi x64 is getting updated, I haven't used the x86 version for a couple of months.
-
Backspace is taking me back while I'm typing in Discus.

It works if you just change your user agent… I don't now in what year they are living that they are blocking/allowing clients by their user agent. Contact the site owner.
-
Works here fine with Linux Ubuntu. Are you sure you just don't lose focus of the input when it happens?
-
Yepp. Tried many times. Happens consistently - every time.

@Sajadi:
In the end Vivaldi will for sure not be as fast as other browsers…
Noooooooooooooooooooo!
-
Nice!

Win 7 64, 8 Gig,32 Viv
No need to go into detail you've heard it before. Loaded fast, high hopes, after 1/2 hr. CPU OK but free memory eaten up, still can't use regularly.
FYI:
Update: I don't know but this is strange! I updated a program I use once in awhile and it seems to have let Vivaldi free up some memory ( up to 1.5G and I am streaming a program at same time) AND CPU is down to 1 &2%. It's been that way for OVER 1/2 hr. Cross fingers.I've checked before and on MS taskmaster AND Vivaldi task neither showed it was using THAT much CPU and/or Free memory.
Maybe other with some programs are giving problems also and not showing…a better man than I would have to dissect it. I'll be clicking my heels if I can use Vivaldi finally, hold breath.
