Feature requests for 1.7

@stefangaisb I prefer to use a password manager (in my case, LastPass, but there are several good ones around). This allows me to generate very strong, unique passwords for each site, keep the passwords safe with strong encryption, yet keep them easy to use through the password manager's browser plug-in. Browsers do not store passwords securely (if Vivaldi is or will be an exception to this, that's great). One of the first things I did, when I initially loaded LastPass, was to ask it to import the passwords that browsers (at the time, Opera, Chrome and IE) had stored on my laptop. This it did, instantly and faultlessly, and with no input from me (which just shows how easily such passwords can be accessed when stored by your browser). These password managers have other features too, such as the ability to automatically fill in forms. Finally, most of the offer free versions which have all the core functionality. If you want more advanced functionality, such as the ability to sync passwords so they can be accessed on multiple devices, that usually costs a few dollars a year. I was a bit of a sceptic when I started with password managers, but as you can see, I've become a huge convert!

The Reader View is fantastic -- I really love it, especially now there's a keyboard shortcut. However, it does not seem to distinguish or handle different types of text elements well. For example, pictures may be stripped out of the Reader View while their captions remain. This would be tolerable if Reader View styled the captions differently to the main body text, but it does not. As a result, caption text is mixed up with the body text and it's impossible to tell one from the other, which makes reading very confusing. (Example is this news page: http://tinyurl.com/h9nf88n Go to Reader View and start reading. 10 of the paragraphs are actually captions -- but can you tell which ones?)
So a general feature request is for Reader View to style text elements differently. Ideally, the user would be able to specify their own fonts and styling preferences, perhaps through some sort of CSS UI, but I appreciate that may take a lot more time to develop. Meanwhile, even a basic solution would help, since the current mode of operation actually inhibits the very thing it is supposed to enhance: readability!
[Note: if this has already been requested, or is already provided in the application, please let me know -- and my apologies for wasting your time]

@CheVe11e_191 I think an option to export the notes would be more useful to most users, and would protect users from losing notes in more than one specific case.
Notes that are accidentally deleted can be recovered from the Trash, so what would an option to lock notes add? Should it prevent editing of notes too?

@XSA thank you for your answer! Now i am using Roboform. It works good, but when the function is included in vivaldi, i will be very happy
roboform works only online. I think lastpass also. You must have a account there. I am not very happy about this because my sensitive passwords are stored on their server. I dont know how secure the passwords are stored.
When Vivaldi get a solution about this, you can store the data local on your PC -

inbuilt translation like we have in Chrome and Yandex Browser.
-
ability to rearrange tabs within a stack.
-
improve on the tab previews by adding real time previews of tab contents. this fuctionality can be seen in the addon tab scope on Firefox.
tab scope also has other helpful features:tab preview zoom. forward, back and refresh buttons above the preview and ability to scroll the preview. maybe these can be added too. -
Speed Dial folder removal confirmation
In order to avoid accidental removal of the folder I think that it should have removal confirmation prompt.
-
@LongLife - but it can be retrieved from the trash, no?
-
Ability to place custom page in Speed Dial folder
Maybe a stupid idea but I think it could be pretty cool.
To understand better what I mean by custom page see this subreddit.
So basically like one webpage with the bookmarks/quick links and you can even add something like clock, temperature, RSS feed widget or really anything that you want. So basically your very own customized start page.
But I do also like Speed Dial so that is why I thought it would be great to have ability to place your start page in one of those Speed Dial folders.
Also we could also have a place to share our start pages like they do in the subreddit that I mentioned. What do you think of that ?

Bring back the Links window! It was a simple yet powerful feature in Opera 12. Pressing Ctrl-Shift-L brings up a new tab with a list of all links of the site it was invoked from. Really usefull to mass copy a lot of links, for example from an ftp server.
-
Oh, it doesn't even go to trash, it actually just disappears from the speed dial and it stays in bookmarks until you delete it.
Thanks, I didn't even know that. -
Support for MIME types
A great feature in old Opera is the ability to choose what to do with different file types:–
-
@Pesala The way the Opera 12 file type dialog behaves is like this:
-
The "Use plug-in" drop-down decides what plug-in is used when embedding with <object>/<embed>. The setting for the drop-down is active and honored even when the "Use plug-in" radio button isn't selected. You just can't change the drop-down unless "Use plug-in" is selected.
-
What happens when you navigate to a URL with that type/extension directly (as in, not embedded with <object>/<embed> and clicking on a link or the URL entered in the address field) depends on what radio button is selected, even if it's the "Use plug-in" radio button. If "Use plug-in" is selected, Opera would load a page that wraps the direct link in an <object>/<embed> to embed it with the plug-in/handler right in the browser.
All that would still be great for Vivaldi, and I really want it. However, if it's implemented, I'd like the dialog to be clearer than Opera 12's as few users really understood the "Use plug-in" option's dual functionality. Simple UI modifications really. Basically, make the drop-down active all the time for one. For two, put "Plug-in used for embedding" above the drop-down. For three, change the "Use plug-in" radio button label to "Embed with plug-in". Something like that. Just as long as it's clearer than Opera 12.

@gaelle Are we supposed to reiterate our requests from the previous feature request thread (if they didn't get implemented obviously)?
-
@burnout426 - the way to keep them out front and in view is to go ahead and post them again if you wish.
-
@Pesala Supporting an External Feed Reader would be great too just in case you don't want to use the built-in one.

Hello.
Can you make option to put opened tabs next to address bar like in IE11? I asked about it on twitter.
Thanks to that we will delete one bar and have more space for sites content.
So there will be only:
buttons (vivaldi/back/forward/refresh/main site), ADRESS BAR, OPENED TABS, min/max/close buttons
Favourite sites bar.You can ckeck my visualisation in attachment.
And I'm still waiting for e-mail client builded to this web browser.! -
I'd like to propose to change the tab menu entry for 'Clone Tab' to 'Duplicate Tab' - more similar to Chrome (where I guess lots of people are coming from), but most importantly, vastly different to 'Close Tab' - a very different operation.
On opening the menu, I'm scanning for the word 'Duplicate', but can't find it. Then I see 'Close Tab' and remember it's 'Clone Tab', and then dither and squint to see if I've got the right one.
