Privacy Without Compromise: Proton VPN is Now Built Into Vivaldi
-
@0x49D1 It does not appear in the extension list, so I suspect 'removing' the button does not actually remove the underlying code.
-
@0x49d1: You can login with your Vivaldi account, but otherwise it's just the extension afaik
-
I'm already a Proton customer so having it built in is handy!
-
@jon Changelog missing in blog article.
-
@groovehead: I believe the extension only gets installed when you set up the vpn for the first time
-
@TbGbe yeah, just 9 days, surprising isn't it?
-
Tip: The VPN feature is just an extension. If you don't need it, you can delete it.
-
This is another big milestone for the Vivaldi team.
I'm very excited about how the Vivaldi browser continues to develop. I'm very proud to be part of the Vivaldi community.
If you want to see exactly which location Proton VPN has connected you to, you can check it with this: -
@3dvs 9 days??
Not that long before April -
@mtaki14: If that is the case, then fine.
Is there anyone from the development team active here that could confirm this belief?
-
What about the poor souls who only use snapshot builds
-
@mtaki14 said in Privacy Without Compromise: Proton VPN is Now Built Into Vivaldi:
the extension only gets installed when you set up the vpn for the first time
Correct.
-
@mtaki14 yes... But will this extension update when Proton does some fixes on their side? As I understand it's built into the browser now and we don't really know if it can cause backdoors or some vulnerabilities...
UPDATE: ahh, saw that: extension is installed after I complete the auth procedure. After that it is just plain extension
Thanks!
-
uBlock Origin built into Vivaldi?
-
@stardepp why is adding extension a bit milestone?
No, really: this is just advertising each others' products. Good thing, but why big milestone
-
@TbGbe I meant its surprising 7.3 arrived only 9 days after 7.2 given snapshot is still 7.2 only
-
cool
-
And, and, and Proton Pass! Please.
-
What a shame if you live in Norway, Proton VPN doesnt work for the major streming site like TV2 PLay, NRK etc.. So for me terrible news..
-
How free is this may I know?
