Vivaldi 7.2: Speedy and smart, a serious update.
-
I do, but then I get almost no hits from history. It's either 11:2 for history, or 9:1 for bookmarks (or something close to those numbers), depending on what's (un)checked in the settings
-
Thank you for the heads-up, even if I didn't see it in time. I did download 7.1, but the installer refused to proceed, and as I had no time at the moment to mess around with this anymore, I just used my 'good copy' (ie, on my other machine).
I'm hoping for a setting that will allow us to define how many terms (preferably how many of each type) show up.

What is the point of having the option to enable Feeds without Mail if the feed reader interface still has all the junk from the mail interface?
And why can't I enable Feeds and Calendar without Mail?
-
Every time I start Vivaldi 7.2, I see a light blue page with the text "Made with
in Europe."
Please tell me how to make it stop.

@sjudenim
I agree. The option to freely reorder the results categories was much better. -
@atlemo
If the number of results impacts speed drastically, I think you should make it an option. Either as a speed vs. amount switch or a slider to set the maximum amount of results. -
@atlemo
I understand your problem with wrong results in the past but this new implementation must be somewhat optional. First of all, I'd like to sort the results by categories (bookmarks, history, etc.) freely like in the previous versions. Second, it annoys me that the results are mixed and no longer separated by categories. And no, the badge on the right side does not help.Again, I see your point, and I believe that it will improve but I generally dislike algorithms that don't work as I expect them to work. I am the user, the software must work as I see it fit and not me having to adjust to it.

@mtaki14
Shouldn't they implement all previous functionallity before releasing a breaking change? -
Thank you for the new version. This is the first time the browser feels really fast. I use Vivaldi on an old laptop and I can definitely notice the improvement. For years, I have avoided enabling the bookmarks in the address bar because it felt very slow, but now it's all instantaneous.
I also had problems with sending emails, and now that issue is resolved. This is probably one of the best updates you've made.

https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/820102Yes, and I've used Vivaldi since forever. The UI was sluggish from the very beginning, but that was fixed many years ago. However, the browsing speed always felt a little bit slow, which now seems to be fixed. And the performance of the address bar was particularly terrible for me.
By the way, I'm using Vivaldi on Linux/Wayland without hardware acceleration.

OK, now I see the issue you were talking about. I can also reproduce it on Linux. Anyway, it's not a big deal for how I use the browser.

Thanks for the update, i'm a newcomer but i really like the spirit and the UI.
-
this update has seemed to break my sync and no longer accepts the encryption keys i have saved. or maybe it's a coincidence.
-
I like the currency widget, but I would appreciate it if you could also convert other things in it like inches and centimeters.
-
I'm also not happy with the new address bar behavior. But my issues are in regards of the autocompletion (I don't really use the drop-down results much).
Autocompletion priority was changed in the past a couple of times, but at least there were ways to adjust it to the own preferences a little. Now that option is gone. Are there plans to add them again?My learned workflows don't work anymore, and I have to type a lot more to get to the sites I want. Usually, I only need two to three letters.
A very simple, concrete example: If I want to go to the mindfactory.de, I had to type mi. Now I have to type mindf.
Another thing: I usually go to the start-page of a site. Now, if I have a bookmark for it, I can't without modifying the autocompletion result, because it always wants to go to one of the bookmarks. -
@cobaltjt and others,
the Vivaldi team is working on the address bar but the time was to short to get all features back for Vivaldi 7.2, they had to release at some point.
I hope we get the fine adjustments back in minor updates over time independent on the bugs are fixed internally.Cheers, mib

@shion: I'm having the problem with "empty" Canvas too. If I switch to another application for some time, and then come back to Vivaldi, the canvas is empty (background color visible).

Does Vivaldi email incorporate Google mail effectively?
