Vivaldi 7.2: Speedy and smart, a serious update.

Bug:
Even if "Search in Address Field" is disabled, if you type a search nickname, then space, then something (anything) it triggers search.
I feel like this version should had had several more snapshot iterations before going stable.
-
@mib2berlin Regarding the panel issue: Removing "Vivaldi Social" and/or "Vivaldi Mail" from panel seems to fix it.

@JyuSensei
Hi, I checked this in Vivaldi 7.1, it does the same so no bug.
Why do you use a search engine nickname if you don't want to search? -
I don't use search nickname in the address bar. I don't use search in the address bar.
I have disabled that setting.I would had assume that disabling "Search in Address field" would... disable search in address field. I would had assume that "Search nicknames" fall under the search umbrella. And I would had assume that if I wanted to write "g lorem ipsum spicy tacos" in the address bar I would get an error page and not a google search for lorem ipsum spicy tacos.
Now, why would I want to type "g lorem ipsum spicy tacos" in the address bar not expecting to search is very well irrelevant.

Wow, I had no idea that the bowse hotkey otection featue was in the woks. Unfoatunately it's eventing seveal lettes fom egisteing, which I imagine is making this had to ead. I'd indicate which lettes ae not woking, but fo the fact that the keystokes ae doed.
This is what I have set in the otions:
And after restoring the defaults, all of my letters are working again. I was missing R and P, for some reason, though the only keys I added were F1, F2, F3, and Ctrl+Z
-
I am actually very excited about this feature, though it seems like it needs a tune-up. For years now I've been annoyed by websites hijacking ctrl+Z and making it so that I can't reopen a closed tab. I also use F1 F2 and F3 for new tab / previous/next tab, and protecting those from being hijacked would be wonderful as well.

How does one enable the new currency widget? I don't seem to have it. I do, however, have two copies of the settings button, one on top of the other.
Also, could you please bring back the ability to open an entire bookmarks folder by middle clicking it? That also stopped working with the update.

Apparently, that's a bug.
So it might get fixed in the near future. Unless the devs decide to focus on some asinine feature first.

And of course, it didn't remember me, again...

Is there a fix for the non-working automatic sienna theme based on the system one in Linux, non-working native gestures back and forth in history with two fingers and Web Serial API support? Or... Will be?
-
An hour with the update and I am already going crazy. Why would you break a thing that's working? My address bar keeps showing me my previous searches and I can't find an option to fix this.
Previous versions had a simple option about what to see on drop-downs. You removed this option and advertising the new feature as "you are in charge." Okay, cool, but, no?
-
I get you guys are excited to show off the new update but please for the love of god, stop adding new bookmarks to my browser. I don't want a temu bookmark, if I wanted one I would've added it myself. And stop putting stuff in the speed-dial, I don't want it there, I remove it every 3 updates and then there's a new one.
Also, the text in my address bar is darker now (against a dark background). Can there at least be a setting for it to actually match the foreground color in the theme, rather than just picking something several shades darker? My eyesight is bad enough as is.

@jon Nice release - Tx!
-
Thank you for this update and keeping up different browser experience.
-
@asgatlat: It's been fixed internally already. Hopefully it makes its way into a minor update soon.
-
@jyusensei: That setting controls whether the addressbar can be used to search without the need to use search nicknames
-
@skonuksal: I believe bringing back that setting is planned

The option in settings is not really clear, as a unexperienced user i would think this will disable the search with a nick, too.
A usability issue.
Report to bug tracker page and let developers decide if this is a bug. -
@auxce Thanks for the hint, but I don't have those panels. I will try it with deleting all the existing panels.
