Vivaldi 7.2: Speedy and smart, a serious update.

@midoni: Wouldn't typing a few more letters to narrow down the results be faster than trying to sift through 100s of results?
I guess if you often don't know exactly what you are looking for there's a case to be made there.
Don't get me wrong, I still think there should be an option to see more results. I realize different people work in different ways.

Thanks for this new release! I much appreciated the possibility to turn on feed reader independently from email. It would be great in future to have the chance to activate also calendar and task, without necessarily using the (hovewer excellent) internal email client.

Yes, RSS can be turned on separately from the mail and calendar, but the basket disappears - do you are going to clean it from remote messages? ))

@auxce Thanks for the hint, but I don't have those panels. I will try it with deleting all the existing panels.
Deleted all panels and it's still opening the panel when starting.

I confirmed this for the snapshots...
If you were the one who mentioned it there then report it as a bug.
Edit: I forgot I already made a feature request for this!
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/103690/trash-should-be-accessible-when-using-feeds-but-no-mail
And as @gmg points out on that thread, there is a workaround - you can set the feeds view to show trash then delete the messages permanently. But if this doesn't work for you then go ahead and report it as a bug instead.

Same as other have reported, if I add F1 to the Browser priority shortcut exceptions, then I cannot type the letter "p" in any website.
It works in the address bar, but not in the panels (like Notes) or in any website.Ctrl+p and "P" still work, but not "p".
Removing F1 in the exception list instantly fix the issue.Adding F2 does the same with letter "q".
F3 breaks "r"
F4 breaks "s"
I stopped there but you see there is a pattern at least, it might help.Do I need to submit a case ?

Yes, please.
-
@DoctorG I have created case VB-115199

@Capushon tree lists missing some entries on load is a known issue. Because it's a minor visual bug it was more important to get this full release out as soon as possible. I'm hoping these will get a patch to fix soon.
-
@megosu Confirmed internally.

Thank you for the update. You can see the improvement in speed. I keep waiting for there to be a better ad blocker.

I do not understand such a rapid release of new major versions with underdeveloped features. Wouldn't it be better to release them slower but more polished?
Such versions as now only annoy users and they really might consider changing browsers because of this, especially since MV2 will be discontinued soon.
These are just the last ones that bothered me:
- change in appearance (fortunately, there was an option to restore the old one)
- change in the way of downloading duplicate files (we had to wait a very long time to correct this, as it was until the next major version)
- changing the operation of CTRL+F (here, too, we had to wait until the next major version to fix it)
- address bar (and again the announcement that the features will be restored later)
Point 2 and 3, why couldn't this be fixed sooner in a smaller update so that as few users as possible would complain about it?
Point 4, how long should we wait this time? Is the “Disable Chromium Omnibox search results in Address Field” option in “vivaldi:experiments” safe to use to wait until the address bar is refined?
I love Vivaldi, but more and more, things are starting to bother me after updates, which admittedly get fixed later, but still the distaste remains. So isn't it better to release a slower major version but a better one?
-
@sjudenim: I hope this will be changeable...
-
@mtaki14: No, not if you use to surf with your mouse now you really need to use the keyboard everytime
-
@tealing: I do not understand the constantly need to change the heart of the browser (address bar). I mean it's okay to add features, but strip everything away and call it better? I don't think so.

I agree with all your sentiments, but thanks for pointing this out. During testing, they said that option was going to be removed for the stable release. Good to see that it's still there. This will allow us to use the old address bar instead. It should be safe as it should just be the old code they didn't end up removing....yet

New version 7.2.3621.67!

Why did you remove the "Show Fullscreen Reminder" option?
Why does the side panel for Feeds stay open when you switch to a non-feed/mail tab? These might be small things, but they annoy the most.
