Further Dashboard fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 3491.4
-
With this build I'm having some UI sluggishness specially when changing between working spaces I think. I noticed that in both a windows and a linux installation. The first boot after updating was also painfully slow and seemed like vivaldi was frozen and with high cpu usage, but after a restart it was "fine".
-
You know what I think would be super cool? (By the way, I really the dashboard.) I'd love to have an option on the webpage widget to open it in a new tab or window. I also think it would be nice to pop them into a dashboard-like panel or something so I could look at them quickly and easily.
-
@g_bartsch: For me, they were there on the last 2 snapshots but not the current one, however other themes do have them. Also, I see the use Icon Set option cannot be toggled
-
@dmg You can switch icons here ...
-
I really don't like the new icon set. Having the icon in a round style make them not readable. For example, the home icon doesn't look like a home.

They are not bad, but a bit restless for icons. For instance the Camera-Icon for Screenshots - have to look three times to see that it is for Camera and Screenshot or Picture and Animation, that is not to be figuered out what it should represent. They are more little Artworks than icons.
-
The new interface, the dashboard, the drag and drop for the downloads are amazing! Keep the good work!
For me 2 things are missing:
- RSS feed sync between devices (the feeds and read / unread status to sync)
- the Zoho Calendars to be visible in the Vivaldi calendar interface
-
Now that my mail seems to be working properly again, another issue I'm noticing is the mail indicator seems to be inconsistent.
On the Status Bar, there is usually a number that indicates how many unseen emails there are. But in this snapshot, when a new mail arrives, the number either doesn't show up, or shows up much later, and then even after I delete the new emails, the number indicator will remain.

@durtro: We did a change in VB-104049 where we throw away the non-visible workspace tabs but gained overall better performance. Out of curiosity; how many tabs to you have in your workspaces when you notice a slow-down?
-
@driverop: Not only Speed Dial disappeared in Private browsing, so did all my Bookmarks and the Bookmarks Bar as well. I hope this gets fixed quickly since I'm exclusively browsing news, social media, etc. in Private mode.
-
I understand the Theme updates despite not being a fan of the new ones. But as always, Vivaldi gives us choices to customize.
However I noticed that all my customized themes for any profile except the default one were deleted by the update. I use 10 different profiles for personal browsing as well as for some of my mayor clients and I now have to edit 9 profile themes again from scratch. Not great!
-
There is still an issue with opening saved sessions. If I double-click on a saved session, it sometimes opens the session tabs right away in a new window. Sometimes it opens a pop-up asking if I want to open it in a new workspace or add tabs. Regardless of the selection, it always opens a new window.
-
@rhk You can add a custom web panel with
chrome://bookmarks/
if you need it that desperately. -
This update replaced my custom theme buttons. I think old ones are better, especially reload/X button.
I changed icons to old good Subtle after 5 seconds.
-
I updated right now from the last before-dashboard-snappie and now I have this in my rss section:
I can't move them into one of the new folders I created. Is this a known bug?

@other my workspaces on the affected instance (linux) have the following number of tabs:
- 90
- 470
- 58
Indeed workspaces with more tabs are mot taxing. Changing to workspace 2 is taking about 8 seconds from clicking the workspace till chowing content in the tab, Anyway even the other two workspaces are taking a couple of seconds till showing the contents of the tab.
BTW any effect on pinned tabs on different workspaces? Are they also thrown away?
-
What's the intended way that the tab sync should work? If I do it from a computer sending a page to a smartphone, it pops up as a notification from Vivaldi Snapshot on the smartphone, but if I do it the other way around (from the same smartphone to the computer), I see nothing. Should it be a desktop notification that I should perhaps allow?

@npro: Thanks for the tip . This works temporarily (with limitations). It only shows folders but not the individual sites within. But much better than nothing.

You 're welcome, it works for me though, expand the window panel's width by dragging the vertical line to the right, double-click to enter subfolders.
-
@npro: Ah, after making the panel much wider the individual sites appear . Not very practical though.
