Portuguese-BR translation from LingvaNex

Hi, the bug VB-89483 @smacz is confirmed.
Nobody assigned to it but I don´t know how these issues handled, it is not a bug of Vivaldi, more a missing feature.

@mib2berlin I see that this functionality has not been implemented for over 1 year. even reporting this translation problem we still haven't had a response for a long time. Forgot the Brazilians.

Same issue for me.
But I understand the issue is in LingvaNex not supporting Portuguese Brasil (yes it is very different from Portuguese European).

Can Vivaldi team give us option to choose our own translation services like Search results? Google, Bing or DeepL are way better than LingvaNex for translation.

Better options are really good.
I'm trying to use the DeepL extension but it doesn't have an sidebar UI... the alternative is to open de website in sidebar but that is not the same.

Hi all,

Thanks for reporting this issue.

Unfortunately, Portugueze Brazilian is not supported by Lingvanex (and this language not in the list on this page - https://lingvanex.com/language-features/). And we can't change it now because it's a Lingvanex product. We will inform them about this problem and the result will depends from their decision. Sorry for that.

We already have the option to use other translation engines as a Web Panel. The Vivaldi Team does not need to do anything.

Other search engines share your data. Vivaldi send user data to their own servers to use Lingvanex — that way, they can protect your privacy.

I would be very grateful, along with all Brazilian users of this browser, if you could inform this fabulous translation tool to add this language, as European Portuguese is quite different from Brazilian Portuguese and many sentences become confusing when translated.

Since Vivaldi itself may have a better approximation than I do, if it is possible to add this request to them...

Vivaldi uses the translation service from Lingvanex so it depends on them adding support for Brazilian Portuguese.

I asked about this on the Lingvanex Website, which is the right place to ask. There is nothing that the Vivaldi Team can do about this. If Lingvanex provide support, then Vivaldi will also get it.
