Feature requests for 1.6

With the current limitation for editing our own posts, I'm against that idea.

Why would you want to change a request that you made for 1.6? Surely, if you wanted it for 1.6, and it has not been implemented yet, it goes without saying that you still want it for 1.7?
-
@Pesala To add some details that I forgot about, to correct some mistakes, to clarify something etc. Besides, current topic is quite messy and so far no one has done anything to sort it out (despite multiple requests for doing so). I imagine that this would just require a lot of time - time that could be spent on something more productive than sorting out an old topic. Closing this one and starting anew is easier than cleaning and sweeping through that little "chaos"...
By the way, any reason for abolishing the current 60 min time-frame for editing posts sounds good to me.

@Andy2222 A bit late to the party but you can get bookmark separators in menus already, just create a new bookmark, name it as
---
and place where you wish to see the separator. -

Well, maybe "Feature Requests for 2.0"?
Because Vivaldi 1.6 (was released today) and it has only 3 tabs-related new features.PS: My all Feature Requests for 1.5 are still the same, so if there will be next thread "Feature Requests for 1.7" I will have to copy-paste them again

A menu type o Firefox or Chrome, if possible with thumbnails to "facilitate" the life of some users ...
-
Extensive privacy controls.
it's not a secret that many sites ignore option "do not track" and as Vivaldy develops like no other with variety of functions, i hope it can provide more options to protect user's privacy or maybe even mislead persuasive tracking web-sites.
example from another Chromium-based browser that has many options for user.
p.s. sorry, i didn't find any way to hide pictures under cut.

Tabs memory management.
lazy session loading is great! what yet is needed - more abilities:- to unload opened tab(s) = manually or after set minutes tab not used
- open tab in background, but not load it = load it only when user clicks on it later
-
Notes with reminds feature
an option for a note to become reminder with options:- remind user of this note on specific date = user opens browser and sees pop-up of note on this day. for example that one needed to visit some pages this day, or that 2 weeks ago there was a note about web-store that has discounts today
- reminder when page visited = first time you make note on specific page/domain and later when you visit it, Vivaldy reminds that there is a note connected to this address.

How about making the feature requests not dependent on a specific version of Vivaldi?
I think the point of this thread was not only to get the feature requests but also to get them kind of sorted by priority for users.
But I agree that a thread with 20+ pages is too much. When it exceeded 10 pages users started to request features that where already asked for.
It would be helpful if there could be threads within the thread Replies to replies not shown. This way a feature/request could be discussed without making the whole thread confusing. In addition the current way to up/downvote a feature is not helpful in my opinion. It should be possible to upvote and downvote independently. Right now a feature requested by one person and disliked by another adds up to zero. The same happens to a feature liked by 20 and disliked by 20. But while the further is obviously not of interest the latter has 20 users (plus those that are not using the forum) interested in the feature, so it might be a good idea to add the feature as an option.

It's good enough, but it's hard to understand why anyone would downvote a feature request for an option. Five
losersusers downvoted my feature request to allow scrolling tabs using LMB + Scrollwheel. Perhaps they thought the request was to change the default behaviour? In general, I don't think many will use the downvote option at all. Anything that's popular enough to get 20 upvotes is not going to get 20 downvotes β maybe one or two at the most.
All suggestions to improve this feature request thread should bear in mind that someone has to implement it. Changing the forum code to do something else would not be easy. Editing threads is not too hard I think, e..g. to select the most popular posts and move them to a new thread, while leaving the rest (less upvoted posts) in the old thread.

Hello.
Can you make option to put opened tabs next to address bar like in IE11? I asked about it on twitter.
Thanks to that we will delete one bar and have more space for sites content.
So there will be only:- buttons (vivaldi/back/forward/refresh/main site), ADRESS BAR, OPENED TABS, min/max/close buttons
- Favourite sites bar.
Second thing is broken drag and drop feature- i can't drag site from address bar and drop it at favourites bar (under addres bar)
Third thing is that, when I type for example 'youtube.com' in address bar, it search for last links with movies. I wanted main site, not a movie!
And I'm still waiting for e-mail client builded to this web browser.

The panel toggle button is always shown at left-bottom.
I think that the button should better to show at the right of zoom slider when the panel location is at right. -
The restarting after upgrade should better to reproduce pre-restart.
I think that new Vivaldi should reuse the command line options of old one.

It would be nice if this was fixed. I reported it in July as:
(VB-8055) Icon to Show/Hide Panel on Wrong Side

Opera 12.x (and lower) type interface customisation. (allows all user interface to be customised)

@hot_denim The separators appear in the Bookmarks Bar
-
I wasn't able to find this in a Google search, so I apologize if it's a repeat:
I would love to be able to open files that are on plain text (*.txt, *.log, *.ini, etc) in Vivaldi for quick viewing rather than needing to save them. I view a lot of logs for work, and in Opera 12 (and older) I could simply open the log in a tab in the browser (they were usually *.txt files) and view it there, which made things faster and much easier for me.

If save Tab Stack which is renamed for example Test name 1, and save it to bookmarks, it creates only a folder called Stack. Then again I must rename this folder in the bookmark manager. Please add a feature to automatically save rename the title tab stack. Thanks

Video Pop-Out
A similar feature has been launched by Opera recently wherein any video being played can be popped out in a small floating window on the browser, so that the user can browse the web while continuing to watch the video.
It is surprisingly a very useful feature, and one which no user will be able to live without upon trial as experienced by me first-hand.
Please help with this. -
@chronicler92 You seem to be still alive.
You can add a video channel as a Web Panel. Then it can be played without obscuring the page that you're currently reading.
