BUG | Fullscreen video on Youtube freezes

@npro said in BUG | Fullscreen video on Youtube freezes:
so did you try with a New Profile? If you are not newbie this is the first thing you should have mentioned.
Yes, I tried, no luck.
If others can't reproduce your issue then your bug report wii be of no use, then it is unlikely to see your issue fixed.
Those kind of issues are hard to reproduce. I can only navigate, to which parts of UI code to look. At least debug what events are fired, what happens after Alt + tab, that it starts play again.

@enc0re Fedora uses Wayland by default, try setting
chrome://flags/#ozone-platform-hint
to Wayland, close browser with the 'x' button, don't "Relaunch" with the button, do you experience the same?Also, pretty important to always mention at the beginning, are you using
nouveau
or nvidia's proprietary drivers? This is crucial becausenouveau
is completely blacklisted in Chromium after version 71. -
@npro I've already set that flag to Wayland in past. However setting it to Default will make freezeing go away. Interesting.
I'm using nvidia proprietary drivers from rpmfusion, currently v565.77.

This means that
you had setthe flagto "Auto" (=effectively Wayland) whichwasn't cleared with a New Profile that you said you had tried, probably because the 1st "affected" profile is already open in the background. Therefore it's always best to try with a new profile using the terminalvivaldi-stable --user-data-dir=/tmp/vivalditest/
, if you aren't reverting all flags to default (and mentioning it) before testing "issues". -
So to come to a conclusion, this bug happens with nvidia drivers 565.77 in a Wayland session and using
chrome://flags/#ozone-platform-hint=wayland
. Chromium is not affected. I think it should be reported. -
Reported.
(VB-113961) Video playback freeze after going fullscreen on Linux -
@enc0re
Hi, 4 tester could not reproduce this.
I added a comment about the Nvidia card and the driver.Cheers, mib
-
I believe reinstallation of browser, or OS would fix it, but that is not solution.

Where? In bugreport? I wrote it already there.
-
@enc0re
I thought it wouldn't hurt to mention it again, a tag Linux_Only was added.
Some testers where on Windows. -
Yeah, no problem. Issue happens only on Linux.
-
Bug "(VB-113961) Video playback freeze after going fullscreen on Linux" was closed as 'cannot reproduce'.
What can be done further with it? Because I can reproduce it every time when doing fresh install of Fedora.
-
@enc0re
Hi, I am sorry but if no developers or testers can reproduce it what should they to fix it, one with Nvidia GPU.
We have some Fedora users here but nobody report it in the forum.
Users report issues with Wayland and Vivaldi for a long time, first I would try to check on X server. -
@mib2berlin Maybe to provide some logs/traces from me of what is happening in the UI. I believe this can be useful for debuging even if they can't repro the issue.
-
@enc0re
You can add such information in reply of the conformation mail and/or post here, maybe there are some useful info users can check. -
I can confirm the bug with the latest stable 7.2.3621.67 and Nvidia, proprietary drivers 570.133.07 in a Wayland session with
vivaldi-stable --ozone-platform-hint=wayland --user-data-dir=/tmp/vivteststable/
playing the video https://test-videos.co.uk/vids/bigbuckbunny/mp4/h264/1080/Big_Buck_Bunny_1080_10s_30MB.mp4 . The only way to return from the frozen fullscreen is by pressingAlt
(orAlt+Tab
too I guess).No way they can not reproduce this. Reopen it and list all the details again.

Did you do that? I recorded a UI rendering trace from
chrome://tracing
here (valid for 1 day) https://www.filemail.com/d/plybinnhrxabuva . The video plays for ~5 seconds locally (file:///
), then I go fullscreen, wait for some seconds, then I return withAlt
. @DoctorG you may include it in the bug report, or if something else is additionally needed do tell. -
@npro Thanks for trace.
I downloaded the file and uploaded to internal bug tracker entry.

@mib2berlin It's ok you were only asked in OP's quote if you would need a trace, so I did that for the OP, nobody said it is your bug
