points of view:

it is ugly
it looks like a button detached from its content, not The Tab
it takes too much extra space that becomes useless. If you have a lot of tabs that wasted space could be asily attributed to having more tabs(especially on big screens)
this was forced onto users, even for those of us who spent hours of making the UI suited for them(Vivaldi is supposed to be about customizability, so please do not take our customizations from us with forced updates)

It seems like this topic has completely derailed
Let's get back to the point.

Some people like it, I'm not one of them;
A lot of space is being used;
Tabs look like buttons;
It's not a theme (or is it?);
It's forced on update;

The thing that needs to be (somewhat) worried about is that it can be very off-putting to some of the new users or people that look for a different browser and see this "childish/non-professional-looking-layout-coloring".

The guy made three consecutive, now deleted posts in the other thread and one of them told people in bold/CAPS to not abuse the thread etc. pp.

Maybe this forum is different, but I've been on message boards as owner/admin/mod and normal user since the 1990s and it is 99% mods and admins and not ordinary users who do that.

Anyways, since the guy has now proudly blocked me for my apparently pain-inflicting observation (probably counts as violence, even) I guess that he is just doing it too feel more important than he is. Sorry for not living here.

@SebSebsensen I have run communities for decades up to the current day, maintaining a partnership and monetised community with around 300k user reach on every major platform - I can speak from personal experience when saying users setting a tone on a platform is far from unheard of or unusual. perhaps your experience does not represent as large of a sample size as you believed it did.

again, feel free to go back to your original point and discussing your disagreement with software functions rather than whatever this is. but while we're still here- you seem to be a bit confused by the responses you've gotten so far, so let me do you a favour and explain a basic fact in life: behaviour is a function of its consequence. if you are getting a particular response from others, you should look internally and try to find out that reason.

I do not live here, as seen by my profile contributions. no need to offload your responsibilities onto me or anybody else next.

@SebSebsensen ah yes, the age-old classic "I'll take my ball and go home" response. my foresight did not account for that potential outcome.

just remember that people gave you a chance to discuss things with your words like a rational human being, you just didn't like being evaluated for the things that you say.

In general

Hi,
I've just tested on a Clean Profile.
Changing the 1st option on the Guide turns the round tabs to flat again.
It compacts many UI elements as well.

To revert it seems something easy, being it's possible on Vivaldi.

Another thing is that the users has to search for a "fix" to get the previous desing.
This would be more uncomfortable in some cases.

For lot of tabs in a row would look weird, but there's all kind of users and there's already the Workspaces, so this would met many different options for many different users.

The AutoUpdate,
Not sure whether informs about the changes or just the manual update.
There would be read it and also allows to wait or search information before install it.

BTW,
To run Profile back ups of Vivaldi and also any other important software, is something to be aware when getting any Digital device despite seems something not globally advised.

This can be a problem for many if not most people, since it seems like most people don't like to read anymore. My parents called me to set it back as before, still have to go there XD (https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/102203/redesigned-experience-as-theme)

Yes,
When managing other's computers the action time is sometimes more limited than in just one's.

At least is a setting that can be reverted so should be just an anecdote

@okurok Mate! You can just revert it back into the settings!!
go to Settings >> Appearance >> Window Appearance.
and change it to the compact and here you go.
I am not getting how you're claiming that vivaldi forced it .

I reverted it back. It was the first thing i did after this update.

I don't have the problem with Vivaldi creating new customizations, i have the problem with my settings being messed with after updates.

You don't need to CAPS everything, i can clearly read it even with proper typing.

Hmm.. There is a basic problem with this update, and it is that it needed a post explaining how to revert the changes that it applied.

When I installed Vivaldi, more than a year ago, it guided me through a lot of cutomization options.
This update should have had that. It would have saved a lot of headached.

"Things have changed! Choose a new theme"
"We added new visual options for tabs. Would you like to use the new style or keep the classic?"

And so on, you get the idea.
