Hi again, if it work for all other user it is maybe not a user error but a system issue.
If I remember correctly we had a user cant sync because his ISP block it.
I follow the forum closely and follow the Vivaldi bug tracker and we don't have reports about tab syncing is broken.
It's also a bit strange some parts of sync work but others not, this does not indicate an ISP problem. 🤷
To be honest, I have no idea why this not work for you. 😕

@hbarwari said in Sending/Syncing Tabs between devices not working:

        This is quite bizarre.

        That would be accurate.

@hbarwari cant tell about the chrome core, but yes i uninstalled vivaldi on my problematic machine with a third party uninstaller in order to remove all traces of vivaldi.
after reinstalling it everything was good .

before uninstalling it, i also tried to unsync everything, but it did not change anything for me.

@hbarwari That's just an indication that the instance on desktop thinks it's the only instance logged in to sync.

@hbarwari I'm not a tech-head - just an ordinary guy volunteering to sweep the floors and keep the peace in the Vivaldi Forums.

The Vivaldi sync coder, the guy who wrote it from scratch and continues to add capabilities to it on the regular, is an extremely busy guy. I suppose he might have some clue what else to check, but he has no time to browse the forums.

My suspicion is that something is corrupted in the profile of your main instance, which could only be corrected by replacing the Default folder with a virgin one (and then setting up all of your settings, syncing again to get your data back, etc.) But something on that machine, or in your profile, is blocking that part of sync. And I could not guess what it is.

Hi, it' s a good idea from @Ayespy to test this in a clean profile.
Create one and connect to sync, if it work there you know it is a profile issue.
It depends on what you want then which way you can get it.

Interesting, that after many updates, remnants of sending function remain in Vivaldi Android. I've just installed Vivaldi on another computer and, after syncing, I can see it on mobile but sending tabs doesn't work, of course. Because there is no progress on sharing tabs between devices, maybe an option to close tabs on other devices would be feasible? In a way it would be a "negative" of typical sharing - instead of sending a new tab to another device we could close unnecessary or read one on the far end.

Linux/Android/Vivaldi - always the latest, always updated.

Why is there even an option to sync tabs in the settings if it doesn't work. I have installed Vivaldi on 6 different machines over the years, and the tab sync still doesn't work. 😰

@Ayespy if it works fine, it is not friendly. I enabled sync, I set master-password but I cannot see any option to send/syncing tabs between devices. I didn't find any faq how to do it.

                                @Ayespy Good for you. 😉
It still doesn't work for me though. I just changed laptops at work, and the new laptop never received any tabs. Or does it perhaps take several days for it to sync? I was expecting the sync to be as instant as all the other settings and objects.

@bengta A device does not "receive" any tabs. Rather, the tabs of other devices are visible (and can be opened) under the sync cloud (which is next to the discarded tabs bin).

                                    THANK YOU!

@asb15 The ability to "send" tabs was removed from the Chromium code a couple of years ago. There is no function whereby you open a tab on one device and find the same tab open on another device.

Rather, open tabs on a synced device are saved to the sync server, and can be accessed on the server from any other of your synced devices.

I tried the sending tabs feature and I can send tabs from computer to computer and from computer to phone.

But is it possible to send tabs from phone to computer?

I tried to open vivaldi://experiments on my phone but the page is not available. I can't also find the icon for sending tabs from Vivaldi's share menu on my phone.

My phone is iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 18.0.1.

I've tried with the stable version from App Store and the snapshot version from Testflight.
